Patterns are generally woven with many long shuttles of various colors, and some parts are also equipped with sprint shuttles. For example, the Treasure Map of Lotus Flowers with Heavy Brocade and Clouds preserved by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty in the Palace Museum in Beijing, the ground sutra and special sutra are moon white, and the long weaving weft is dark green, shallow grass green, lake blue, jade color (white with egg blue), sapphire blue, moon white (extremely light blue), agarwood (yellow brown), yellow, snow blue (light purple), brown yellow and yellow.

Heavy tapestries are also used to weave painting hanging scrolls and Buddha paintings, such as the artistic style scrolls woven in the Yuan Dynasty in the Liaoning Provincial Museum, the portrait of Sisanjie Jia Cuo, the younger brother of Qing Dynasty tapestries, preserved in the Potala Palace in Tibet, and Gan Long's "Colored Weaving Tiangong Axis" preserved in the Palace Museum in Beijing. The lower part weaves nine lotus ponds and reincarnated figures, and the upper part is solemn and rich architectural landscape. People and buildings are drawn as planes and outlined with thin lines. Where the contrasting colors are connected, use the method of 3 or 4 layers to transition from shallow to deep layer by layer to achieve overall coordination.

The weaving of fine-colored brocade is similar to that of heavy-colored brocade, and special warp yarns are also used to bind the weft and the bottom weave. There are three configurations of ground meridian and special meridian: 3∶ 1, 6∶ 1 and 2∶ 1. The main flowers are woven with segmented color-changing sprint shuttles, and the edge lines and geometric patterns of mosaic branches or flowers are woven with long-distance running shuttles. There are sometimes more than 20 kinds of pattern colors, and changing colors according to the pattern distribution is called "live color".

Song brocade box brocade, also known as small brocade, has two common weaves: one has special warp, warp twill and weft twill; The other is to raise long weft floating flowers on the irregular six-warp satin ground without special warp yarns. Brocade patterns are mostly small geometric patterns or small realistic patterns. Weft usually adopts two long-distance running weft yarns and one short-distance running weft yarn as weaving weft yarns, and the other weft yarn. The warp and weft are loosely arranged, and a layer of paste is often scraped on the back to make it stiff, which is specially used for filling capsules.
