The Tropic of Cancer is located in the southern coast of China, running through the middle of the region, connecting Guangdong in the east, Beibu Gulf and Hainan across the sea in the south, Yunnan in the west, Hunan in the northeast, Guizhou in the northwest and Vietnam in the southwest. I. Location and background
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is located in the southern coast of China, with east longitude10426'-1204' and north latitude 20 54'-26 24'. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the middle of this area.
Adjacent provinces: Guangdong, Hunan, Guizhou and Yunnan, facing Hainan across the sea.
Neighboring countries: Vietnam, with a total length of more than 800 kilometers; Coastline length: about 1500 km. Total land area: 236,700 square kilometers. Proportion of China's total land area: 2.5%, ranking 9th in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China.
Second, the terrain.
Guangxi is located in the southeast edge of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, known as the second step of China's topography, west of the hills of Guangdong and Guangxi, and south of Guangxi topographic map faces the Beibu Gulf. The whole terrain is surrounded by mountains and plateaus, and the south-central part is mostly flat, so the terrain inclines from northwest to southeast, and there is a basin between northwest and southeast, which is called "Guangxi Basin" in history. Guigang City, located in the southeast of the autonomous region, has the largest plain "Xunyu Plain" in Guangxi.
Geomorphology of mountainous hilly basin
The landform of Guangxi is generally a mountainous and hilly basin landform, which is basin-shaped. Characterized in that:
1. The size of the basin is mixed. The west and north are the edge of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the northeast is Nanling Mountain, and the southeast and south are Yunkai Mountain, 60,000 Mountain and 100,000 Mountain. The central part of the basin is divided by Guangxi arc mountains, forming a central Guangxi basin with Liuzhou as the center. There are many small and medium-sized basins such as Youjiang, Wuming, Nanning, Yulin and Lipu along the arc piedmont depression in Guangxi, forming a mixed landform structure of large and small basins.
2. Mountains are mostly arc-shaped and layered. From north to south, it can be roughly divided into four columns, and the trend of the mountain system is obviously squeezed by the eastern Pacific plate and the western Indian plate.
3. The hills are complex, accounting for 10.3% of the total area of Guangxi, and concentrated in southeast, south and southwest Guangxi.
4. Flat land (including valley, valley plain, piedmont plain, delta and low platform mountain) accounts for 26.9% of the total area of Guangxi. Guangxi plain mainly includes river alluvial plain and dissolution plain.
5. Karst is widely distributed, accounting for 37.8% of the total area of Guangxi, concentrated in southwest, northwest, middle and northeast Guangxi. Its developmental type is rare in the world.
