History of two universities:
Both universities started from 1902 Sanjiang Normal School and experienced the development period of Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University and National Central University.
1952 southeast university was merged into relevant departments of Fudan university, jiaotong university, Zhejiang university and Jinling university on the basis of the former national central university engineering college to form Nanjing institute of technology, which was renamed as southeast university 1988 in may. In April, 2000, the former Southeast University, Nanjing Railway Medical College and Nanjing Jiaotong University merged into Nanjing Geological School to form a new Southeast University.
Nanjing University was renamed Nanjing University on 1950. 1952 Some departments of engineering, agronomy and normal university were reorganized and merged with the College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University to form the new Nanjing University.
