She opened the first hotline for breast cancer patients in China, accompanying lonely and helpless breast cancer sisters with voices;
With white hair, she shuttled through the wards of major hospitals to send encouragement and comfort to her patients.
She is Zhang Jiamin, her patient's nickname: Miss Jia Min. She lived as a beam of light, illuminating herself and warming the desolation of the world.
Suffer from breast cancer
At the beginning of 2020, the Wuhan epidemic raided. During the epidemic, Jia Min, 8 1 year-old, was unable to lead the breast cancer rehabilitation volunteers of Pink Ribbon Volunteer Service Team to visit the hospitalized breast cancer sisters in the hospital, so she opened WeChat chat and hotline, and still had to answer dozens of help calls from all over the world every day to answer questions and comfort. ...
Back to 1994, when people's knowledge of breast cancer was still very limited and unfamiliar, 55-year-old Jia Min unfortunately suffered from breast cancer. Because I knew nothing about breast cancer, I didn't take it seriously after diagnosis. She went to school every day until one day eight months later, she couldn't support herself at home and fainted.
In April 1994, 1 1, on this day, Mr. Jia Min underwent radical mastectomy on the left side and lost the breast that accompanied him for many years. She said on the Reader program that when she took a shower for the first time after the operation and saw her mutilated body, the tears ran away with the water, which diluted the tears in her eyes, but the tears in her heart still flowed! I haven't said a word to anyone for three days.
Forced to accept the fact and continue to embrace life. While giving lectures, Mr. Jia Min received chemotherapy and endocrine therapy. Since then, she has lived in peace with cancer cells for 19 years.
June 2003: 5438+ 10, Jia Min was 75 years old and was hospitalized for heart and blood pressure problems. I never thought that I accidentally found a small lump on the right breast and was finally diagnosed as breast cancer.
Unlike 19 years ago when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she chose to face it calmly this time. In order to let her family and friends have a happy New Year, she kept her mouth shut about breast cancer until after the Lantern Festival. On March 5, 20 13, she went to the operating table again and performed breast-conserving surgery on her right breast.
In the 26 years since she met breast cancer, she has never cried, complained or felt helpless, but life is a trek, walking over the top of the mountain and falling over the bottom. The ups and downs are the normal state of life.
A telephone line, a beam of light
Teacher Jia Min has read and told an article by a passer-by, Mr. Lu Xun, which describes the process of the protagonist from birth to death, and death is actually the end of life. This gave Jia Min a great inspiration. He thought that since people have to die, what is terrible about breast cancer? After slowly changing from ignorance to cognition and having a preliminary understanding of breast cancer, her mentality has also become relatively calm.
Facing the sudden life threat and the disabled body after operation, Mr. Jia Min, who is over 500 years old, thinks that it is hard for him to accept, let alone a younger woman. They are under too much pressure!
At that time, an old expert hoped that Mr. Jia Min would tell her positive and optimistic thoughts, so that more patients could consult her illness, so she obtained her consent and disclosed her home phone number.
At that time, the publicity about breast cancer was very weak. As soon as teacher Jia Min's landline phone was made public, she received inquiries from patients all over the country. Breast cancer, a group with obvious female characteristics, has special emotional communication needs with each other. Some problems are difficult to talk to family members or doctors, and they can only talk and communicate with patients.
The number of people consulting has gradually increased, and the landline phone has become a 24-hour phone call. Teacher Jia Min even has to answer the phone call for an hour or two in the middle of the night to help patients eliminate their fears and build up their confidence in cancer prevention.
In the hotline, Jia Min shared the story of a 25-year-old breast cancer patient who had cancer when she was young. Her fiance broke up with her at that time, which made things worse. She really wants to give up treatment. She was desperate on the other end of the phone. After listening to her story, Teacher Jia Min asked, "This man left after you got sick. Is he still cute?"
On the other end of the phone, the two made an appointment to meet the next day. After meeting, the old man and the young man embraced and talked cordially. The old man encouraged and comforted her, and the little patient's repeated efforts finally dispelled her extreme thoughts and agreed to have an operation. More than 300 days passed, and later, she not only recovered well, but also returned to society smoothly, with a promotion and salary increase.
Asked if she still keeps in touch with my little patients, Teacher Jia Min said, "Generally speaking, young and middle-aged women will not contact them after treatment and return to society. I hope they don't always remember that they used to be breast cancer patients. "
In the 26 years since 1994, Jia Min has connected tens of thousands of breast cancer patients from all over the country. Even during the epidemic at home, she still answered nearly 2000 calls for help. A telephone line, like a beam of light, illuminates their anti-cancer life and increases their confidence in the anti-cancer magic.
Embrace reality
"Although the phone can communicate with sisters all over the world, it always feels far away. We can't physically comfort her, hug her and wipe her tears. " Teacher Jia Min said with tears in her eyes.
In order to solve this problem, Zhang Jiamin discussed with several patients and sisters and set up a volunteer service team to serve hospitalized breast cancer patients. On 20 12, a short and pithy public welfare team named "Pink Ribbon Volunteer Service Team" was established. The aim of the team is to care for breasts and cherish health.
Before the operation, they gave psychological counseling to their newly diagnosed sister; After the operation, they instructed the patient to carry out physical rehabilitation training. Through the visit, I hope that the sick sisters will know something about the disease, have confidence in the treatment, face the disease with an optimistic attitude, and finally be able to overcome the disease, recover and return to society successfully.
Teacher Jia Min mentioned: "Whenever our service team comes to the hospital, everyone is especially welcome. Because our team members are patients themselves, chatting with everyone is an empathy and a statement. "
The "Pink Ribbon Volunteer Service Team" was established nearly 8 years ago and has served tens of thousands of people before and after. Members of the service team dressed in pink uniforms, with warm smiles, went to hospitals all over the country to bring encouragement and peace of mind to everyone.
"Pink Companion", accompanied by all the way
After 26 years of anti-cancer, Mr. Jia Min also witnessed the rapid development of breast cancer treatment. From those years of "talking about cancer discoloration" to today's "chronic diseases", we see that more and more breast cancer patients are no longer afraid of the disease, dare to fight cancer and live a wonderful life.
The book Pink Companion records the tearful and touching story of every volunteer in the Pink Ribbon Volunteer Service Team. After their recovery, they joined the ranks of volunteers, fearless of cold and heat, rain or shine, solving problems for breast cancer sisters and growing together in the struggle against breast cancer.
The original intention of the book Pink Companion is to leave their footprints on breast cancer rehabilitation volunteers who have served breast cancer patients for many years. The second is to give readers enough courage and hope that we can return to society and repay society after recovery.
As Teacher Jia Min said, "People should live, or live meaningfully."
On the phone with Jia Min, she had just finished a two-hour telephone consultation with a sister with breast cancer. I can't imagine an old man with white hair. Her figure shuttles through the wards in various places, and every step gives life a heavy force. A hotline and a volunteer team have never stopped helping breast cancer patients for 26 years. How persistent!
Although the disaster given by fate is sometimes unpredictable, you can still choose to be a beam of light to warm the desolation of this world.
Chinese Valentine's Day has arrived, and Huzhu Jun has prepared a small gift for everyone.
