Dong Ze (1888- 1972), a native of Yunlong County, Yunnan Province, studied at Wentong College in Tokyo, Japan, and joined the League in Japan. 19 12 was admitted to Columbia university to study politics, economy and education. 19 15 returned to China to participate in the national defense uprising, and served as the secretary of the headquarters of the national defense army and the general liaison office in Hong Kong. 19 17 returned to the United States to complete his studies. 1920 after returning to China, he has served as director of the education department of Yunnan province, director of finance, president of the head office of Fudian Bank and president of private Dongda University. Influenced by American educational thought, Dong Ze imitated the higher education and talent training mode in Europe and America when he founded the private Dongda University, and put forward a school-running concept that met the needs of local construction and development in Yunnan, which had a certain impact on the development and construction of the school.

Dong Ze has been in charge of the school for 8 years, adhering to the school motto and discipline, inheriting ancient civilization, and leveraging the scientific and technological progress and academic democracy in Europe and America, he has made great achievements in developing ethnic education.
