During the Spring Festival this year, we returned to our hometown Tai 'an, a third-and fourth-tier city in Shandong Province, so we temporarily left the bustling scene of going north, Guangzhou and Shenzhen with a monthly income of 10,000 yuan, and returned to the grassroots life, which accounts for the vast majority of the social population, and I think this is the true face of China.
Probably in Zhihu, we are used to buying BMW Mercedes-Benz with a budget of 400,000 to 500,000 yuan, but we can't imagine what the automobile ecology of third-and fourth-tier cities outside the first-and second-tier cities will be like.
As a Shandong native in my bones, I may know Shandong better than foreign media, and as a new Cantonese, I can understand the differences between the North and the South better than the media working in Shandong. Shandong gives many people the impression that it is the main battlefield of low-speed pure electric vehicles and one of the main battlefields of Haval and Haima Zhongyuan market. At the same time, Hebei and Henan around it are the most populous provinces in China.
Shandong is a big GDP province, which once kept pace with Guangdong. However, the similar economic scale makes the automobile ecology in Shandong very different from that in Guangdong. Guangdong, as the main camp of Japanese cars, not only gave birth to Japanese car culture, but also wrote the legends of Lexus, Camry, Accord and golf, while Shandong only became synonymous with low-speed pure electric?
This regional gap is not only reflected in the moment from Baiyun Airport to Yao Qiang Airport, but also in the personal experience of driving through various service areas in Shandong.
To understand the automobile ecology of a region, it is best to start with the economy, and the economic foundation determines the superstructure. What is embarrassing is that in the recent national economic census, Shandong's GDP of 20 18 was lowered by nearly one trillion, and the official figures came out. It seems that people suddenly understand that Shandong's economy is not as strong as it looks, so that people are keen to discuss whether Shandong will be the next Northeast.
If Guangdong's economy is likened to hiding wealth from the people, Shandong is hiding wealth from officials, and ordinary people actually have little income.
The reason for this situation is that private enterprises don't make money, so their wages are low. The economic structure dominated by state-owned enterprises and provincial enterprises determines that they can't keep people and talents. This is not groundless. It is almost a common phenomenon in Hebei, Shandong and Henan. You can even refer to the salary income of employees of Great Wall Motor and Haima Motor, which has already made a very good profit. To this end, most people in Shandong prefer to go to the north or the south to get higher wages.
In this case, civil servants or career editors have become the target of most Shandong students' efforts. However, not everyone has the opportunity to enter the civil service, so ordinary people can only find their own way out outside the government system. Of course, there are also unwilling people who are willing to do some small businesses, but these small businesses can only barely maintain their operations under the pressure of national chain brand stores.
Therefore, the automobile ecology of most cities in Shandong comes from the concept of car purchase represented by civil servants and career editors and the concept of car purchase of ordinary people.

The largest market for low-speed electric vehicles
I don't know if this low-speed electric car should be called "car" because it is not a car in principle and the driver is not required to have a driver's license. In fact, it is not the "degenerate" operation of the car, but an enlarged version of the electric bicycle.
Why is this car, which is not popular in other places, very popular in Shandong?
As a labor exporting province, a large number of young people go out to work, and there are a large number of left-behind children and elderly people in many places in Shandong, which has contributed to the main tradition of the elderly helping to take care of their children in a certain sense.
Shandong is a typical northern weather. It's too cold in winter and too hot in summer. As an elderly person, he usually has no experience in driving a car, but his physical fitness also determines that he can't choose an electric bicycle in too hot and too cold weather. Shandong's township-based structure means that it is almost normal to drive halfway.
This normal state includes the elderly going to school to pick up their children, and the county still maintains the tradition of "going to the market". To meet the travel demand of 10km to 20 km, simple electric bicycles and cars are not suitable. Low-speed electric bicycles have more shelter from the wind and rain than electric bicycles, and they don't care about safety, so left-behind elderly people are willing to choose low-speed electric bicycles.
Because consumers regard low-speed electric vehicles as large-scale electric bicycles, their driving habits are consistent, that is, they will occasionally occupy the main roads of national roads and county roads, and they will also insert them at will. "Low-speed electric vehicles are not cars" is a tacit understanding.
However, another problem explains the crowd of low-speed electric vehicles. Low-speed electric vehicles are not suitable for urban buildings because buildings can't solve the charging problem. People can take the batteries of electric bicycles home to charge them, but low-speed electric vehicles can't. Therefore, most of these vehicles are concentrated in rural areas or urban villages, indicating that urbanization in Shandong is far from enough.
We have buildings in Tai 'an City and Ningyang County. Entering the urban area of Tai 'an, low-speed electric vehicles have started to decrease obviously, while in the county, there are more electric vehicles.
Low-speed pure electric vehicles are mainly purchased by left-behind elderly people, so low-speed pure electric vehicles are also a very "low-end" image in Shandong. What can really be called a car has to burn engine oil. This is also a new choice for most families. This is our residence in Tai 'an, a real estate that doesn't look low-end, but most of the car prices and brands in the real estate are mainly concentrated in independent brands below 654.38+ 10,000.

Real cars burn oil.
As I said at the beginning, people who work locally are usually in factories or enterprises, and their wages are not high or even flexible. For decades, this cycle has been for social security and stability. Therefore, such families are reluctant to buy more upscale cars when choosing cars. It can even be said that the choice for them is "choosing a car without choosing a car", rather than "choosing a car with a price of 6.5438 million and a car with a price of 200,000".
I came out from the barber shop near the community. This barber shop has just raised its price from 20 yuan to 35 yuan for the Spring Festival. I don't think I have enough confidence to raise prices, although 35 yuan actually only accepts 30 yuan. During this period, a middle-aged man pushed open the door and shouted "Look at my new car" to his boss. I am also particularly interested in a white Chery Arrizo 5.
The boss said, "You should buy red and white. It's too common." .
Obviously, the middle-aged man who bought a car didn't care about this evaluation. He was so happy that he just wanted to share about buying a car before the Spring Festival. So I'm more interested in seeing the cars parked outside the barber shop at the entrance of Greenland Real Estate.
The cars here are not rich. There are Cupid, Roewe 350, Civic, Hyundai Elantra and a new Volkswagen Bora that was discontinued a few years ago. These cars may be used cars or new cars, but their values are all below 654.38+ million, which means ordinary people are more willing to choose joint-venture used cars or new Volkswagen entry cars.
On both sides of the road, you can see Chevrolet Luze, Tiguan L and a Camry that just passed, but the license plate of Tai 'an City is Lu J. Obviously Tiguan L belongs to Jinan, the provincial capital, and Camry belongs to Qingdao, the first city in Shandong Province. There are old Excelle, Nissan Hacker, Geely Vision, Volkswagen Old LaVida and Baojun hanging on the roadside. A Volkswagen Magotan with a Lu-Gua J passed by.
There are also Chinese V5 around or inside the community, as well as Yuecheng and Geely England, which have long been extinct in the south. Even some new cars are mainly Changan Automobile, Baojun Automobile and Roewe Automobile. If it is a joint venture brand, most of them are Volkswagen. My Mai Rui Bao XL is a relatively high-end model in this community.
In addition to the car models below 6.5438 million, consumers in urban areas have begun to accept automatic transmission, while consumers in county towns still insist on manual transmission, probably because they are used to manual transmission, but I believe the main reason is the understanding that manual transmission is more fuel-efficient, although there is no obvious difference between automatic transmission and manual transmission in terms of fuel consumption.

Those high-end cars
At the beginning of the article, it is mentioned that the composition of automobile ecology mainly comes from a wave of civil servants, career editors and ordinary people. However, in an area where civil servants are flocking, the car brand that civil servants like will soon become the choice of ordinary people.
Ordinary people's choice of cars is closely related to the local economy. In Shandong's economic structure, the government is higher than others, so people's car purchase is also the most seriously affected by the government. Therefore, in ordinary cities in Shandong, Audi and Volkswagen are more famous than other models. The impression of BMW in a city like Tai 'an is not calm, and the image of Mercedes-Benz is not low-key. Only Audi and Volkswagen are the most suitable choices among ordinary people.
Particularly representative models are Volkswagen Magotan, Passat and Audi A6L. Once most families have enough budgets, the first brand to consider is Volkswagen. They didn't find the latest sales volume of Volkswagen's Shandong market segment, but they found a news, which mentioned:
"Shanghai Volkswagen's performance in the Shandong market is equally wonderful. As of June this year, 5438+00, the cumulative sales volume of Shanghai Volkswagen in Shandong market was 20 10636 1 vehicle, ranking first. 」
Basically, we can see that Volkswagen is the choice of most ordinary people, that is to say, if a Camry can still compete with Volkswagen Magotan in Guangdong, Magotan may gain an advantage in Shandong immediately.
As an old party member (my father), he deeply believes that it is a dream to drive an Audi A6L to the supermarket. Because you can drive an Audi A6L around the supermarket, it means that you have enough control over this car, or it belongs to you-you have money; Or you're in charge.-you have the right.
Shandong people pay attention to low-key. The most correct choice for a high-end car in an ordinary family is Magotan or Passat. If the conditions do not allow, you can choose another car of sagitar or Volkswagen brand, which at least declares a well-off family.
Habits are handed down little by little. The dignitaries choose Audi, the rich choose Magotan, and the well-off families choose Sagitar. Even ordinary people try to choose Santana and Jetta. If they can't stand the low matching of popular brands, they will choose their own brands.
BMW and Mercedes-Benz are really good cars and luxury cars in Tai 'an. However, for Sankong, a person who has been in contact with Confucius and Mencius, "doing high-profile things and being low-key" is the standard in many people's minds, while BMW and Mercedes-Benz do not meet this standard.
Aston summary?
This is my new observation after returning to my hometown in Shandong in previous years, which only represents my personal point of view.
