Category information:
1, clinical psychologist:
Both normal universities and comprehensive universities in China have undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees in psychology. General clinical psychologists have bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees awarded by universities. Although they don't study medicine, most of them follow the medical model, and abnormal psychology is an important course in their courses.
Many psychological tests are designed and implemented by clinical psychologists, and these tests set standards for "normal" behavior. Other medical staff often use these standards to measure a person's mental health. However, it should be noted that they often ignore the necessary medication and hospitalization for some patients.
2. Social workers:
In western countries, social workers receive training in psychoanalysis, medicine and community work, and do casework, group work or community organization work in hospitals, schools or alone. Although they have some medical backgrounds, they tend to pay attention to the whole family rather than individual family members.
In China, there are few social workers like those in the west, and most of the work is done by ideological and political professionals or enthusiasts. Generally received short-term training. Although they are enthusiastic, due to the limitation of professional knowledge, they often can't identify mental disorders, and sometimes even misdiagnose and mistreat them.
