Where is the south bridge and the north bridge on the motherboard?

The chip closest to CPU is North Bridge. The chip of South Bridge is the same shape as that of North Bridge, which is square, smaller and farther away from CPU. The positions of CPU, North Bridge and South Bridge are usually in a straight line. Because of the location, one of these two chips is called North Bridge and the other is called South Bridge.

It seems that some motherboards don't have South Bridge chips. But there are all the north bridges.
