Nanhong is named after being produced in southern China, including Yunnan, southern Sichuan, Qinghai and Gansu.
Nanhong has long been exploited and utilized by people. Some people say that the so-called "red jade" in ancient books is a guide to red agate. South red agate is bright in color, delicate in texture and very beautiful. It first appeared in the Warring States Period.
It is said that during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the south red agate was mined and disappeared, and now the south red agate handed down from the Han Dynasty belongs to the Ming Dynasty. Nanhong, a new mine, is mainly produced in Liangshan, southern Sichuan, and also produced in Baoshan, Yunnan. However, there is no gem-grade ore in Baoshan, which is mainly produced in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan.
