Hong Lao introduced that Renhe Road was the gathering place of some big businesses at that time, similar to the high-end office buildings now. The first floor is generally an accounting warehouse, and the second floor is an office, without shops and shopping malls. Shortly after the completion of Renhe Road, many big businesses, such as Thai Department Store Wholesale, Zheng Da, People's Information Bureau (approved by overseas Chinese) and Zhenhua Printing Factory, settled in.
"This road is like a rich man dressed very simply but actually very rich. The merchants who settled in this street are all' top plates' with very strong financial strength, and they are all doing big business. " Hong Lao said that after the privatization reform of 1956, these large merchants and foreign companies merged into state-owned enterprises, and they moved out of Renhe Road one after another, while some craftsmen such as textile and rope weaving settled and worked here. Over time, people and roads gradually evolved into residential houses.
"From the late 1950s to the end of the Cultural Revolution, it was the time when people and roads were most neglected." Hong Lao said, "The most prosperous period is around the victory of the Anti-Japanese War." After the reform and opening up, Renhe Road in Xiamen is located opposite Pier 5 in Xiamen. At that time, the long-distance bus station was near Renhe Road. Its superior geographical location and large population are doomed to be "popular" again.
"Apple" brand suits, "Joy" brand trousers and "airplane" brand shorts ... these famous brands of the 1980s can be bought by people and on the road. At that time, this clothing street was famous all over the country, and advertisements went to the northeast. People often take trains from other places to Renhe Road to buy clothes. At that time, there were many people and passers-by in Xiamen.
The clothing street of Renhe Road is naturally formed, which gradually attracted the attention of relevant departments, so a tin house was built in the middle of Renhe Road. Qian said that at that time, clothes were sold by iron companies, and most of them were exported from Guangdong and other places for domestic sales.
By the end of 1990s, residents of Renhe Road reported that the flow of people in Clothing Street was too large, which affected fire safety and was too noisy, so the relevant departments had to dissolve Clothing Street. The iron shed that originally sold clothes became a parking lot for motorcycles and bicycles, and motorcycles were not allowed to pass on the island until 2000. Later people and roads were occupied by some vendors. Cai Shuming, community secretary of Lujiang Road in Xiamen, told the reporter that the relevant departments had to rectify the people and roads during the holidays, but soon the street vendors came back and it was difficult to manage.
In 2003, Lujiang Street, Siming District, Xiamen, made up its mind to completely rectify people and roads. The orientation of Renhe Road has changed from a street of spicy barbecue to a street of special commodities in Fujian and Taiwan, and then to a street of snacks in Taiwan Province Province. After many twists and turns, it finally reappeared.
