First, the interviewees have different family backgrounds. It is impossible for all the respondents to come from the peasant class or from the same class. The reason why students from different classes are selected as the survey group is because of the influence of their economic, cultural and social capital on the fairness of the higher education process. For example, compared with students from other classes, the peasant class has fewer resources and is in a different position in the process of higher education. Urban and rural areas are also one of the elements of our investigation, because there is also a big gap between urban and rural capital. Whether these different capitals played an important role in the university period, whether they continued to exist and continue to expand, the investigation and analysis of these issues are consistent with our research purpose. We also consider the family income when choosing the survey object, and how the difference of family economic conditions affects the process of receiving higher education is also one of our research focuses.
Secondly, because major is an important factor affecting the fairness of higher education process, students of different majors will have different feelings about the fairness of higher education process. Therefore, we tried to select students from different majors in the interview, including 6 in liberal arts, 6 in science, 4 in engineering, 5 in economics, 6 in management and 5 in normal schools. This choice attempts to make the research results more reliable and effective.
Thirdly, considering that gender is also an important factor affecting the fairness of the higher education process, we selected a corresponding proportion of male and female students for interviews, including boys 15 and girls 17.
Fourthly, considering the inconsistency of college students' enjoyment of higher education resources at different levels, when choosing the respondents, we consciously choose the respondents from ordinary undergraduate colleges and key undergraduate colleges.
