Sansha Expressway runs through the Yeerqiang River Economic Zone in the hinterland of southern Xinjiang from north to south, passing through bachu county, Mohammad County and shache county, starting from Sanchakou Interchange of Aksu-Kashgar Expressway under construction in the north, passing through G3 15 line and Kashgar-Hotan Railway, ending in the north of Udalik Township in shache county, and connecting with Kashgar-Yecheng Expressway.
The main line of Sansha Expressway is a two-way four-lane expressway with a design speed of 1.20 kilometers per hour and a total investment of nearly1.200 million yuan. It is the largest expressway in Xinjiang so far.
"After the Sansha Project is completed and opened to traffic, it takes only two and a half hours to drive from bachu county to shache county, and now it takes five or six hours." Lan Yongheng, director of shache county Transportation Bureau, said that Sansha Expressway is defined as the external transportation hub of shache county, forming a circular transportation network, which can benefit nearly 200,000 people in seven towns east of the Yarkant River.
As an important connecting line of G30 12 in the national highway network planning, Sansha Expressway connects Kashgar-Yecheng Expressway which has been completed and opened to traffic, Aksu-Kashgar Expressway which will be completed and opened to traffic soon, and Mohammad-Kashgar Expressway, forming a highway network in southern Xinjiang.
According to another introduction, Sansha Project is the first expressway project with large-scale wind-filled sand accumulation in China. Of the 233 kilometers of the whole line, more than 60 kilometers are located in desert areas, and 185 kilometers are filled with aeolian sand. A considerable part of the filling height is more than 6 meters, which has no precedent in the history of expressway construction in Xinjiang and even the whole country.
There is a shortage of raw materials for road construction along Sansha project, and the whole line belongs to saline soil section, so it is necessary to haul road construction materials that meet the construction specifications. However, gravel soil should be transported from both ends of the line, and gravel should be transported from Aksu area, which is 160 km away, or counties and cities in Akto County, which is 100 km away. Only aeolian sand is abundant.
The aeolian sand filling reduces the project cost, but greatly increases the construction difficulty. The construction of aeolian sand highway is different from conventional subgrade filler, so special construction technology and compaction method must be adopted to ensure the construction quality. In the process of construction, the problems of high temperature and rapid water loss of aeolian sand are encountered.
