Zheng received a master's degree in Chinese Department of Xiamen University in 1986, and began his study abroad career for 18 years. Father's love is like a mountain to guide the direction.

It is said that a father loves a mountain, which is absolutely true. In Zheng's eyes, it is the father's selflessness and kindness that guide the children to a bright road to success. Recalling his father's education and strictness, Zheng said that his father was a management cadre responsible for the planning and development of more than 60 light industrial enterprises in Zhangzhou. He is very busy, but he has a strong sense of responsibility. "When I was a child, our family was very poor. We support eight family members on my father's salary in 48 yuan for one month. Although my father did a good job, he never sought national interests and repeatedly educated us to be upright. " The poverty at home made Zheng know how to help take care of his younger brothers and sisters very early, and also made this poor but warm home more United. "Her academic performance has been very good, but because she has no money, her sister was forced to drop out of school when she was in junior high school. I remember that we often use sweet potato leaves to satisfy our hunger, which is not only rough but also bitter. Even for a while, in order to save money, we used fried salt to eat. He also personally cut our nails and taught us to be clean and innocent. " Recalling his father's example, Zheng was deeply touched. "Now our six brothers and sisters have good jobs. My brother not only finished his Ph.D. at Jilin University, but also held an important position in the central government, all thanks to his father's profound influence. "

The life of educated youth has honed the character of daring to bear hardships.

At the age of fourteen, Zheng responded to the call of educated youth to go to the countryside and was assigned to jump the queue in the mountains. The life of educated youth gave Zheng a great temper and recalled an injured experience. He said: "once my companion and I went up the mountain to move stones, and halfway up the mountain, we suddenly stepped on a chopped bamboo." In an instant, great pain spread all over the body, and blood kept flowing from the wound. At that time, my first thought was to stick to my position and never let go because of pain. " Zheng, who is only fourteen years old, knows that the stones on his shoulders weigh hundreds of pounds, and there are cliffs next to them. If he lets go, his companion is in danger of sliding down the valley. So, Zheng Qiang endured the terrible pain and dragged blood all the way to the foot of the mountain. Because the wound was too deep and the sanitary conditions in the village were poor, he lay down for a month before getting out of bed. Zheng's persistence and perseverance touched his companions and made him feel the importance of responsibility when he was young.

"14 or 15 years old is a good time to grow and learn knowledge, but the hard living conditions of educated youth at that time made many people flinch from learning. We have to work for more than ten hours every day, and we are very tired when we rest at night. It is very difficult to persist in learning under such conditions. " It is precisely because of difficulties that many educated youths gave up their pursuit of studies, but Zheng always retained the spirit of studying. He came back from work during the day and insisted on reading at night. When he met something he didn't understand, he went to the village or school to ask a knowledgeable old gentleman for advice. "Even so, I didn't affect my daily work. I have almost completed all farm work such as rice, wild boar, stone removal and busy harvesting, and the commune has a high evaluation of me. " Zheng's diligence and eagerness to learn won the appreciation of the whole village. In the year of resuming the college entrance examination, he was recommended by the brigade to go to college. "Five years of educated youth life is a very important fortune in my life. Because I have suffered a lot, I will not be easily shaken when I encounter difficulties. The courage to endure hardships has also cultivated my strong and optimistic personality. "

Study, study, and study again.

Speaking of Zheng's major, it may be confusing. "I studied linguistics at home, but I studied computer and psychology abroad." Zheng explained that he studied other majors in order to serve language education. "In the research of language education, we often have to do some experiments. With the help of computer technology, I can not only complete my linguistic research project better, but also analyze the fields I need to study more accurately and deeply. " No pains, no gains. Through the study of Zheng, it is found that learners in different countries adopt different methods and habits when learning different languages. For example, people in China learn Chinese by combining sight and hearing. Visual learning can not only help them remember the writing methods of new words effectively, but also help them remember their meanings. On the other hand, foreigners learn English in very different ways. They give priority to hearing, supplemented by vision. This kind of research has a very important influence on Chinese education and the promotion of Chinese teaching. "I have been exploring how to improve the Chinese learning level of foreign scholars. For example, if an English-speaking student wants to learn Chinese, what methods should he take to improve his visual stimulation? And apply these scientific research results to the actual teaching of overseas education colleges. " Perhaps it was Zheng's hard work and professionalism that made him set a new goal at the beginning of the establishment of overseas educational institutions, and made outstanding achievements in Chinese promotion one after another.

Studying abroad is related to the motherland.

The experience of studying abroad did not stop Zheng. After receiving a doctorate in linguistics from Australian National University and a doctorate in computer science from Canberra University in Australia, Zheng was recommended to teach in several universities. "I have taught China culture and language, computer science and computer-assisted instruction in Australian National University, National University of Singapore, University of Canberra, adfa and university of tasmania, Australia. I have also served as an adviser to the Australian Parliament on China and a director of the Australia-China Friendship Association for five years, providing information and exchanges on China culture and education for Australia. " His overseas experience enabled Zheng to make many international friends. His enthusiasm and drive have also contributed to a number of study and exchange projects between Australia and domestic government departments and schools, and enhanced mutual understanding between Australia and China. Return to Ludao and repay the society.

In 2004, Zheng returned to his alma mater, Xiamen University. While serving as a professor in colleges and universities, he took over the post of Dean of Overseas Education College. The Overseas Education College of Xiamen University is the earliest institution to carry out foreign education in China. It is also an important Chinese education base for Hanban to support key Chinese teaching institutions in neighboring countries and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and has trained groups of Chinese talents at all levels for overseas and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Speaking of the college he loves, Zheng proudly said that the name of the overseas education college was initiated by Xiamen University. At that time, similar universities also had the name of international college, but even if the school enrolled students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, it could not be classified as "international".
