According to legend, there was a mountain near Liangshapo in ancient times. Many people who entered the mountain lost their way, and the masses thought there was a ghost. When Mrs. Xian learned about this, she gave the climber a little reward.
In Xinpo town, the most popular plants are those with lush local roots. Mulberry leaves, taro, orange leaves, onions and sweet potato skewers are all regarded as auspicious things. According to legend, when Mrs. Xian was stationed in Xinpo, she advocated planting sweet potatoes, taro and other crops, and provided free seedlings, so these crops were auspicious symbols. Some people say that sweet potatoes breed quickly, indicating that the cause of having more children is developed;
Taro symbolizes steady development; Onion-like roots are longer, symbolizing longevity; Sang orange Hainan dialect is homophonic with wealth and good luck, symbolizing good luck. During the Army Day, local people must buy these items, worship in front of the statue of Ms. Xian, and pray for "a safe and developed family".
