Although Emperor Injong was in office for a short time, he was a sympathetic and accommodating emperor.
Shortly after he was made the prince of Yan, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered him to share the samurai with the king of Qin, Jin and Wednesday. The other three princes finished the inspection soon, and only he came back at the latest. Mao asked him why he came back late. He said: it's very cold in the morning, and the soldiers haven't finished eating yet. I told them to review after eating enough, so I came back late. Later, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered several princes to read the paper separately. Renzong told Zhu Yuanzhang all the major events related to the interests of the military and civilians, and he was never picky about the typos on the memorial. Zhu Yuanzhang took the paper and said to him, "Son, you are negligent. You don't see these shortcomings. " He said: "Sun Tzu is not negligent. It's just a small problem, not enough. " Zhu Yuanzhang asked him again: "Yao, when the soup is too early, the water is serious." What do people live on? " He replied, "It depends on the benevolent policy of the Emperor of Heaven." Mao said happily, "Sun Tzu has the knowledge of a gentleman."
After Renzong proclaimed himself emperor, he was able to appoint a virtuous minister and humble an easy minister. Zhou Yi, the official minister, Xia Yuanji, Yang Shiqi, Yang Rong, Jin Youzi, etc. With the silver medal of "correcting mistakes with rope" (meaning correcting mistakes), let them work together in Qi Xin to praise government affairs. If the court misbehaves, it can write a letter, stamp it and convey it to the emperor. There is an official of Dali Temple named Ge Qian. He went to see Shu Renzong, and his words were fierce, and Renzong was quite annoyed. Many officials also said that he mistakenly ignored the saints. Although Injong didn't condemn him, he glared at him whenever he said something. So Yang Shiqi said to Injong, "Ge Qian made a statement according to your call. Who will dare to speak after you treat him like this? " ? Injong felt right and immediately changed his attitude towards Ge Qian. Soon, because ministers rarely spoke for nearly a month, Injong regretted his bad attitude towards Ge Qian more and more, and wrote a letter blaming himself for his mistakes. Later, some eunuchs bought wood in Sichuan to disturb the people, and Renzong specially ordered Ge Qian to investigate and deal with the vice capital.
Renzong is also more concerned about the sufferings of the people. The General Political Envoy once proposed to Injong that the Sifang Yuze memorial be sent to this matter for safekeeping. Renzong disagreed, saying, "It rained all over the world in order to know the situation of floods and droughts, so as to provide relief to the affected areas.". It is wrong to accumulate the throne in the General Political Department. How can I collect and save it again? He also stipulated that officials in the affected areas will be punished if they do not apply for relief for the affected people. Once, he heard that there was a disaster in Shandong and Xu, and the people had no food. However, the local officials urged the summer tax as usual, so they asked Yang Shiqi, a university student, to write a letter to Cao, exempting half of the summer tax and autumn grain in that year. Yang Shiqi suggested that users and workers should know first. Injong said: "Saving the poor is like saving people from the mire, so we can't hesitate. If we let the two departments discuss it again and worry that the country will not run out of money, we will definitely make up our minds. Said, and quickly let the eunuch brought Four Treasures of the Study, let Yang Shiqi pull weeds on the spot, cover on Yin Xi, put it into practice.
Because Renzong pursued a more enlightened policy during his reign, history books commented on him as: "He was in office for one year, and he was full of praise." He also said that if he can be in office for many years, his political achievements can be compared with the Wenjing emperor of the Han Dynasty.
After Injong died, five concubines were buried. According to the Records of Emperor Xuanzong of Ming Dynasty, there are: Imperial concubine Guo, serving the public; Shu Wang, Shu Zhen Hui nationality; Wang Lifei, Shi Huian; Shun Tan Fei, Gong Xiannuo; Fill the princess, pay tribute to Jing. Among them, Guo Guifei's identity is quite special. In the Ming Dynasty, Shen Defu's supplement volume I, Neiting, said: "The imperial concubine (referring to the Guo family) has Teng, Liang and Wei Sanzhu palaces, and this case is not suitable for martyrdom. How can you bite the hand that feeds you? " According to the Ming Hui Dian, all the concubines who died in the Ming Dynasty were "buried", that is, buried in the mountains with the emperor. Zhang, a queen, Renzong Yuanpei, a native of Yongcheng, was later given as her daughter and conducted in Pengcheng. In the 28th year of Hongwu (1395), it was given to the crown princess, and in the 2nd year of Yongle (1404), it was given to the crown princess. Injong ascended the throne and was crowned queen. Xuanzong ascended the throne and was honored as the empress dowager. Yingzong acceded to the throne and was honored as the empress dowager. In the seventh year of orthodoxy (1442), he died on October 18th, and was honored as the "Empress Zhao Sheng of Shuntian, Hong Ren" and buried in her grave.
Empress Zhang was quite clever among the younger generations of the Ming Dynasty. According to documents, she usually pays special attention to Chinese and foreign political affairs, the talents and conduct of ministers. After Injong's death, Xuanzong told his mother every military event and made a decision. Zhang also often asked Xuanzong about his handling of state affairs and often reminded Xuanzong to pay attention to the sufferings of the people.
After Xuanzong's death, the 9-year-old Yingzong Zhu Qizhen succeeded to the throne. Some ministers thought that the emperor was young and asked the queen mother to listen to politics, but the queen mother said, "I am a widow and a bad ancestor." He appointed three ministers, Yang Shiqi, Yang Rong and Yang Pu, to be in charge of politics and benevolent governance, and personally took charge. At that time, Wang Zhen, the eunuch in charge of Li Si prison, was a guy who was good at playing politics and misleading the emperor. Because the supervisor is in charge of all the etiquette of the imperial city, he plays official documents for the emperor, and sometimes on behalf of the emperor, he receives ministers to play sparse. The emperor's oral imperial edict was also recorded in calligraphy by the prison, and then submitted to the cabinet for drafting and promulgating the imperial edict. In order to prevent these people from cheating the emperor and running amok, Empress Zhang made a special decree that no matter what happened, it must be approved by cabinet ministers before implementation. She often sends middle-level officials to Li Si for inspection. If she doesn't do what she says, she will call Wang Zhen and ask him.
One day of orthodox two years (1437). Zhang's imperial court called in the British public servant Zhang Fu, Sanyang and other five ministers, and the female officials stood around with swords. Yingzong stood on the east side and the five ministers stood on the west side. Zhang said to Yingzong: These five ministers are loyal ministers left over from the previous dynasty, and they should be consulted in everything they do in the future. After a while, eunuch Wang Zhen was called. Wang Zhen knelt on the ground. The queen mother suddenly changed her face and snapped, "If you don't obey the rules, you will die!" Female officials jumped up and put the knife rest around Wang Zhen's neck, which made Wang Zhenshen tremble. At this time, Emperor Yingzong and five ministers knelt down to intercede for Wang Zhen, and the Queen Mother spared him. Then warned him: "People like you have been misled by others since ancient times, and the emperor is still young. How do you know? " ! Now because the emperor and ministers intercede for you, I will spare you this time, and you will be punished again in the future.
In the early years of orthodoxy, although it won the favor of the British Sect, it did not reach the degree of arbitrariness and political proficiency, because Zhang relied on loyal ministers to coordinate the relationship between monarch and minister, which limited the interference of the imperial court in government affairs. Coupled with the cooperation of Ren and Xuan, the political situation of the imperial court was generally stable.
