Main products of multimedia technology

There are many multimedia products on the market. Hardware products mainly include the following categories: sound card, speech synthesis card, optical drive, graphics card, video coding card, still image compression card, dynamic image compression card, etc. Software products include multimedia application system making tools, multimedia information consulting systems, multimedia databases, etc. Choose suitable products according to different requirements when applying. Sound card is one of the largest multimedia products on the market at present. Its main function is to store sound samples in a computer or convert digitized sound into analog signals. Usually it also has MIDI music synthesizer and CD-ROM controller, and high-end products also have DSP devices. The typical product of sound card is sound blaster card series.

As for speech synthesis card, Chinese synthesis card has been developed in China, which can synthesize words into speech and play them. At present, there is no mature product for speech recognition.

Using the same technology as CD-ROM, CD-ROM can store information such as sound and image in CD-ROM for access. Because of its large capacity and no wear in use, it has become one of the important multimedia products. At present, the development of MO technology has produced high-speed optical disk drives that can be read and written, and the application prospect is very broad. Now the biggest application market is CD program (title). The video card can convert TV video signals into digital signals, and display them on VGA after being superimposed with VGA signals. At the same time, it can capture video images, save them on disk or make them semi-dynamic and continuous, so that application development can get rid of many programming problems of multimedia products. MIS (Information Management) system has always been a widely used computer application system. The development of multimedia technology makes the development of multimedia MIS system a reality. At present, multimedia can easily make powerful multimedia application systems without writing programs.

Another example is transportation and tourism, and the application prospect of information consultation in professional fields is also quite broad. In real life, many people have given up the idea of installing a landline at home and turned mobile phones into the only way to contact the outside world. Compared with landline phones, mobile phones can achieve more functions, such as sending text messages, listening to music or surfing the Internet. Intel, a world-renowned processor manufacturer, naturally doesn't want to miss this opportunity. It hopes that its Atom processor can subvert people's traditional ideas about mobile phones and bring a brand-new mobile communication product into real life. Unlike traditional mobile phones, which focus on talking, Intel's new concept of "mobile phone" will make the mobile phone have many other functions besides talking, making it a multimedia and network center in people's hands.

Although Intel has no relevant product development plan at present, it has created a reference design for multimedia mobile phones, and hopes that other mobile phone manufacturers can produce actual products according to this design scheme. Moreover, Intel's design reference includes not only hardware design, but also circuit diagram and verified operating system.

It is reported that Intel's multimedia telephone reference design uses its newly released Atom Z500 series processor and system controller Hub US 15W system control chip, which supports serial port, RS232 port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module, as well as PCI Express slot and six USB 2.0 ports. In addition, the US 15W chip also supports up to four audio streams, which means that it is not a problem to play multi-channel audio on the mobile phone. Intel also specially developed Moblin, an operating system based on Linux platform. It seems that we are really not far from the atomic telephone era.
