Jiayu Shewushan gold deposit is a lateritic gold deposit formed by strong wind residual. It is the first lateritic gold deposit in Asia discovered in 1980s. The proven recoverable gold reserves are 25 tons, with an average geological grade of1.72g/ton. There are five gold deposits on the periphery of the mining area, with a prospective reserve of 47 tons.
Shewushan mining area is located at 15km west of Jiayu County, Hubei Province. The mining area is located at the western end of Jiayutai fold bundle in Dayetai fold belt of lower Yangtze platform, from Jiayu to Jiayu in Chibi arc structural belt to the northern wing near the core of the middle section of Chibishan inversion anticline. Most of the surface in this area is covered by Quaternary. The gold ore body occurred in the Middle Pleistocene, and the underlying strata were Paleozoic carbonate rocks.
