There are many kinds of waiters. Those who serve the holy monks in the monk's hall are called holy monk waiters. The abbot's waiters serve the abbot, including incense burner, book waiter, guest waiter, soup waiter and cloak waiter. This is called five waiters:
(1) The incense burner is also called Shi Xiang. Attendant abbot attends classes, attends lectures, talks, opens rooms, recites, puts them down and takes notes.
(2) Librarian: also known as waiter. Division abbot correspondence, writing and other duties. For example, the ministers in the temple and all the literati in the temple.
(3) Waiter: Also called waiter. Responsible for entertaining guests in the abbot. If you are a foreigner, you will be responsible for it.
(4) Pharmacy attendant: also known as pharmacy attendant. Sacrifice the abbot's soup and medicine in the evening. Choose more people who are strong and willing to fill.
(5) waiter: also known as waiter. In charge of the abbot's money, silk and equipment. It is not the monk's original ambition to accumulate money, so he dare not say it, but he is called a mantle. The storage place is called a blog pavilion. Usually, more experienced people are chosen for this position. Make loyalty and forgiveness save, and benefit internal and external affairs.
Among the five waiters, the first three are called "three waiters" (that is, three waiters at the mountain gate), who are responsible for burning incense, writing letters and entertaining guests. Or there are six kinds of abbot waiters: towel bottle, welcome guest, book record, mantle, tea and rice, dry handling, which are called six waiters.
The above-mentioned waiters, except monk waiters and cloak waiters, are called station heads because they want to stand on the side of their elders (called stations) and will succeed the station heads in the six heads in the west sequence in the future. The waiter's residence is called the waiter's cabin (also called the waiter's cabin or wooden cabin), and those who live in the waiter's cabin but don't serve the waiter are called the waiter not to serve. In addition, there are other waiters and waiters, the former is the waiter of the holy monk, and the latter is the waiter of the funeral department, who is in charge of the coffin.
In addition, Ananda is a disciple of the Buddha, serving beside the Buddha is more successful than others, so he is also called a waiter. According to the records in the first volume of Long Agama, the 45th volume of Zeng Yi Agama and the 40th volume of Kitamoto Nirvana Sutra, seven buddha used to have waiters, just like Sakyamuni Buddha was accompanied by Ananda. The name of the waiter of Pippo corpse Buddha is Ashuga, the name of the waiter who abandoned Buddha is Chamgalo, the name of the waiter of Pishe floating Buddha is Bofantogalo, the name of the waiter who carried Buddha in Kucun is Postscript, the name of the waiter who carried Muni Buddha in Ghana is Su Gui, the name of the waiter of Kaya Buddha is Ye Po Mi Duo, and the name of the waiter of Sakyamuni Buddha is Ananda. Waiters in seven buddha have eight skills, namely, firm belief, honest and frank mind, moaning without illness, being diligent, full of yearning, dull mind and being successful and wise, which are called the eight skills of waiters. Therefore, people who work as waiters in the Zen forest today should have these eight virtues.
