How to choose the right book for children

Children of different ages have different abilities to read and understand books. Therefore, the books that parents buy for their children must be suitable for their age characteristics. This paper will provide parents with suggestions on book selection from three aspects to help parents better choose suitable books for their children.

Age-appropriate picture books

For two or three-year-old children, it is best to provide realistic picture books depicting things. For example, children are familiar with toys, animals, plants and cultural tools, and they should choose those picture albums with scattered picture composition and page by page. Children aged five or six like picture books with storylines and are interested in folklore and fairy tales.

The content is healthy and the theme is clear.

Children's books should be healthy in content and clear in theme. Books with feudal superstition, pornography and violence are very harmful to children's physical and mental health. Vulgar language and fashionable language are also harmful to children.

Not too much

It is not advisable to give children too many books at a time. There are too many books for children at a time, and children can only read them lightly, so it is difficult to develop the good habit of in-depth reading. Even if children read the same picture book every day, they will not feel bored. Children read the same album with fresh feelings every day and learn all kinds of knowledge from it.
