How to appreciate geological aesthetics in works of art

We live in the natural environment and also in the cultural environment, and nature provides us with a lot of aesthetic materials. Geological aesthetics is a subject to develop the aesthetic feeling of natural geological phenomena. Nowadays, it is urgent to appreciate nature, because the natural environment has a far-reaching impact on human beings. The natural environment affects our daily life, bringing global warming, air and water pollution, hurricanes and so on. These natural forces will also affect our aesthetics.

The rise of geological aesthetics is an important turning point in re-understanding the triple relationship among man, art and nature. From 2065438 to February 2005, Kwang Myung Kim, a scholar from the University of Virginia in the United States and Shi Chong University in the Republic of Korea, studied geological aesthetics in the English journal Open Philosophy published by Scientific Research Press. The research contents involved three aspects: the close relationship between geology and art, understanding geology and nature from the perspective of environmental aesthetics, and finding geological methods through works of art.

The relationship between art and geology

In geological aesthetics, art and geology are closely related, and geological aesthetics links art and geology together. Geological aesthetics needs an understanding of geology from the outside to the inside. Geological mapping draws geological phenomena observed by people, including aesthetic reconstruction of lithosphere, earth image and continental drift, which provides good materials for artistic expressions such as painting and sculpture. For an artist, plants, animals, rocks and hills are all transformed into visual elements, such as light and darkness, surface texture, box and amorphous structure, color and shape; Geologists examine and collect detailed information about a large number of rocks, and skillfully examine the materials inside the earth. On the other hand, artists also appreciate the scenery itself and produce aesthetics.

From this perspective, rocks are the source of life. In rock art, rocks are symbolic, sometimes as part of ceremonies, artificial marks and carved features on natural stones. Geologically speaking, rock is a solid aggregate of one or more mineral materials. As the seed of the earth, rocks are infinitely regenerated from bottom to top, which is closely related to the age of the earth. We can use the color itself and its changes to deeply explore the power expression and production process beyond dynamic tension, elasticity, depth and imagination. The geological world contains a large number of representations, and all visible objects are representations. In works of art, lines force the eyes to explore the surface and deep through actions.

Understanding of Nature and Geology in Environmental Aesthetics

Since the birth of Taikoo, the earth has been constantly changing and has experienced some particularly profound transitions and turbulence. Different kinds of animals and plants appear and disappear on the earth, forming fossils and remaining.

Allen Carlson, the pioneer of environmental aesthetics and honorary professor of university of alberta, supports natural aesthetics. He expounded an ecological method of environmental aesthetics, and pointed out that "real" eyes and "ideal" mentality can be used to appreciate nature from an aesthetic point of view. At the same time, Carlson and other scholars pointed out the challenge of aesthetics: nature is partly chaotic and partly clear. According to the principle of natural inconsistency and harmony, "the form of nature is not eternal, structured and distributed in proportion, but will change all the time."

Environmental aesthetics discusses the aesthetic significance and influence of environmental concept and its influence on human life. The description of nature is not all about thinking about reality. People's thoughts are reflected in nature, which will naturally be fed back to people like a mirror. Geological aesthetics is the organic unity link between the earth and art. For example, we can experience the ancient traditions of rock painting and forest art, and feel mystery and awe from impressive works of art..
