Academic ranking of world universities (ARWU) is an academic ranking software system.
This system was first published by the World-class University Research Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Higher Education (formerly College of Higher Education) in 2003, and it is the first comprehensive global university ranking in the world. Since 2009, ARWU has been published by Shanghai Soft Science Education Information Consulting Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Shanghai Soft Science"), and all rights reserved.
Academic ranking of world universities and Times Higher Education World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings and U.S. News World University Rankings are recognized as the four authoritative world university rankings. 20 19, 1800 universities ranked, and the top 1000 universities in the world were released.
The main advantage of soft science is that the evaluation method is objective, transparent and stable, and it is widely used in academic rankings at home and abroad. However, there are also some shortcomings. Many people point out that the ranking of soft science is too biased in the field of science and engineering, and too many famous American journals and paper publishing platforms are used as data benchmarks, so there is a certain data deviation.
