Mission, Responsibility and Crisis

Conwill, the founder of the University of Pennsylvania, told a story again and again: A farmer owned a piece of land and lived a good life. Once, a passerby told him that if there were diamonds buried under a piece of land, as long as he had a diamond, he would be extremely rich. Hearing this, the farmer felt very good, so he sold his land and left his hometown to look around for places where he could find diamonds. Farmers "traveled around the world" but never found diamonds. Finally, his pocket was empty. One night, he committed suicide on the beach.

What a coincidence! The man who bought the farmer's land accidentally found a strange stone while walking. He picked it up and examined it carefully, and found it was a diamond. In this way, on the land sold by the farmer, the new owner discovered the biggest diamond treasure that has never been discovered.

Although the story is fictional, it is thought-provoking. Farmers sell land in order to realize their dream of "getting rich". To this end, he left his hometown with an illusory ideal, but he didn't expect how many hidden crises this trip would face. Tragedy is naturally understandable. This tragedy provides us with the thinking that no matter what one wants to accomplish, he should be down-to-earth and start from the immediate things, instead of waiting for death. By feeling, his goal is too high and his dream is too far away, and he should pursue an illusory mirage. After realistic analysis and rational thinking, make a clear judgment and establish realistic goals and the direction of efforts.

We can laugh at stupid farmers, but back to reality, how many conceited and impetuous people are blindly repeating the farmer's version because they only have mission and responsibility and lack crisis consciousness?

From this point of view, the influence of the three coexisting feelings of mission, responsibility and crisis on the probationary newcomers should never be underestimated. Once the employment is successful, this is only the first step to complete the Long March. If you want to continue your journey, you can't do without a sense of mission, responsibility and crisis, nor can you just have a blind sense of mission, responsibility and crisis. Only by using reason to control one's sense of mission, responsibility and crisis can one help oneself achieve the set goals.

(1) What can support your sense of mission?

Many newcomers have had the experience of repeating the same job in a certain environment for several months during the probation period. Although they are proficient, they feel that life is becoming more and more monotonous and trivial, and their minds are empty, like a manipulated machine. Coupled with the lack of affirmation and praise from team leaders and colleagues, it is easy to feel helpless and find what you call "single".

If the newcomer shows signs of being tired of work during the probation period, it shows that his sense of professional mission is problematic. Although there are many objective reasons for the lack of sense of mission, as far as newcomers are concerned, there are two questions that they must ask: Are you free from distractions at work? Do you consider yourself a member of a team? If you are not sure about these two questions, it shows that you lack a sense of mission to your work. The sense of mission and the pursuit of goals cross each other, and it is naturally impossible for newcomers without a sense of professional mission to achieve the pursuit of goals.

Due to the lack of sense of mission, they will only work passively, and even have resistance to the team and even others for no reason when they are in a bad mood. This is the fatal wound of impetuous newcomers in the transition period. Newcomers should think about it. If they are tired of this basic job at present, how can they be interested in more difficult jobs in the future?

It seems that the sense of mission is the starting point to improve work efficiency, and the mission is supported by a dedicated work attitude!

Situational case

[Example 1] Xiao Chang is a newcomer who has just taken up his post from a technical school. Referring to the sense of mission during the probation period, he said that he didn't know what he had learned during the probation period. Every day, when the department head asks him to do something, he will do it according to his requirements, never thinking about whether the job is suitable for him or not, and how promising he can be in this unit. In order to survive, he really wants to continue to work in this unit, but at present he is tired of mechanical work and can't lift his spirits every day. For him, the job at hand has become a dull thing.

[Example 2] Chen Guanglu, a famous TV producer in Taiwan Province, just wanted him to be a small program assistant when he first joined the TV station. At that time, in that environment, the position of assistant was equivalent to that of assistant, and all chores had to be done in one hand, and there was almost no day and night work, but the salary was very low. Soon, Chen Guanglu lost interest in doing these chores, felt that the future was bleak, and had the idea of changing jobs. But his friend told him that it is not easy to find a good job outside, so it is better to work hard in this line first and wait while doing it, maybe you can wait for the opportunity. His friend's words made him think deeply and he was inspired. He knows that every chore he is doing now is to accumulate for future development and pave the way for success. So he continued to be a program assistant, gradually became interested in TV production, and decided to take the road of production in the future. Although he is an assistant, he has already buried a sense of mission in his heart. After two years of hard study, the opportunity finally came: he planned a special program "You are at the Outpost" by the famous singer Teresa Teng, which was approved by the TV station. As a result, Chen Guanglu's first novel caused a great sensation in Taiwan Province Province at that time, so he was nominated for the Golden Bell Award.

Newcomers are confused about the same topic.

The boss always says that we newcomers lack a sense of professional mission and are stuck in important matters and won't let us intervene. It's so depressing

I don't know if I can do my best, so I have been afraid to do it.

I think the company I chose is not bad, so I was very confident when I first came to work. I don't know why, but I have lost interest in my work before the probation period. Is the unit worse than I expected, or is there something wrong with my own ability?

Repeat a kind of mechanical work all day, is this to cultivate new people?

Review the situation

In the above two examples, Xiao Chang, the hero of the first example, obviously lacks a sense of professional mission, so that he can't find his own direction after work; Chen Guanglu, the hero of the second example, is the deepening of the first example.

In the second case, Chen Guanglu succeeded later because his sense of professional mission gave birth to his professional sense of smell, and then he would seize the opportunity of success. If Xiao Chang in the first example also has Chen Guanglu's sense of professional mission, he will not be "tired every day" during the probation period.

At present, many probationary newcomers are suffering from this common problem: they have worked hard to apply for a job, but they have lost their feelings for their jobs and their sense of respect and mission for their careers. While wondering whether your choice is correct, you are asking privately whether other people's work is better than yours. As a result, career goals are always erratic and the probation period is wasted. Not only failed to live up to the expectations of employers, but also delayed their own future.

Support for newcomers on the same topic

The sense of mission should be built on your own, and you can't expect others to give it to you. Newcomers should make it clear that the probation period is to test their psychological quality of "bending before stretching", give themselves some simulation questions voluntarily, exercise their ability to deal with problems and enhance their sense of accomplishment. With this awareness, no matter how monotonous and trivial the work you are doing seems to others, it will not affect your passion for work, and you can further stimulate the motivation to move forward from this passion. If you find that your sense of mission has been lacking, please remedy it from the following aspects:

1. If you feel that there is a gap between the work unit you choose and your expectations, you should immediately have a necessary in-depth understanding of the relevant corporate culture and corporate strategy of the enterprise. In-depth understanding is to realize your role transformation more purposefully and to establish a correct professional concept and good professional mentality as soon as possible; Master all the basic vocational skills as soon as possible and find your own position as soon as possible. Therefore, newcomers should establish such an idea in their minds: finding a good job is only the first step to success. Don't judge your work by your own interests, likes and dislikes, but adapt to the enterprise with a positive attitude, so as to stabilize your emotions, establish a sense of professional mission, and accept the probation inspection of the unit.

You might as well ask yourself, do you think the sense of mission is only related to the unit leaders? As an ordinary employee and a new employee, it doesn't matter whether you have a sense of mission or not. If you think so, it's all wet. The sense of mission is not only the patent of leaders, but also shared by all employees. We should fully realize that the sense of personal mission also has a strong incentive effect on enterprises. When you come to this team, you must assume the responsibility of exerting this incentive effect. You can't avoid it, even if you want to. The correct way is to live up to your mission.
