Jian 'ou Museum, located in Confucius Temple in Jian 'ou City, is one of the comprehensive museums in Nanping City. It was built in March 1985, covering an area of 4,800 square meters, with an exhibition hall 1200 square meters, a warehouse area of 80 square meters and a specimen room area of 60 square meters. The museum has a collection of more than 5000 historical relics. The existing staff of 7 people, in addition to insisting on collection, display, publicity and research, is also in charge of the city's cultural relics protection work. City Museum was established in early 1985, located in Jianou Confucius Temple, covering an area of 5,400 square meters. The cultural relics exhibition hall is arranged as Jian 'ou General History Exhibition. There are historical relics from the late Neolithic period to the Ming and Qing Dynasties on display, as well as important artifacts from various dynasties.
Basically, it reflects the historical overview of human beings in Jian 'ou area from the flood and famine era to the slave society and then to the feudal society in the past 4500 years, and fully reflects the rich humanistic accumulation and historical origin of Jian 'ou for thousands of years. After liberation, Jian 'ou discovered nearly 100 ancient sites, tombs, kiln sites, ancient buildings and stone carvings in urban and rural areas, and unearthed a large number of cultural relics. Jian 'ou Museum now has more than 3,000 cultural relics, including stone tools from Neolithic Age and colored porcelain from official kilns in Ming and Qing Dynasties. This series is dazzling and varied. These cultural relics reflect the intelligence of ancient working people from different aspects, and also reflect the general situation and historical development process of ancient political, economic and cultural development in Jian 'ou.
The Confucius Temple in Jianning House, where the museum is located, was rebuilt on 1986 and has been listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Fujian Province. Dacheng Hall, the main building of Confucius Temple, is17m high, 31.4m wide, 22.9m deep and covers an area of 750.5m.. It is a building with nine ridges and double eaves leaning on the mountain, which retains the obvious characteristics of the original Ming and Qing architecture and is rare in ancient buildings in our province. The museum has played an important role in patriotic education activities with the theme that future generations love their hometown. Since the opening of the pavilion for more than ten years, it has received nearly100000 people (times) from leaders, people and students at the central, provincial and local levels. 1997, the exhibition hall was announced by Nanping Municipal People's Government as a patriotic education base.
