How to export references with noteexpress

The data addition of NoteExpress is the most basic operation. There are roughly three ways:

First, manual entry is the most helpless way. Select or add the required directory in the reference, and then right-click in the record box to create a new record. Select multiple record types, and then fill them in one by one as needed.

As a beginner, there are several points to pay attention to. First, the title types should be accurate, such as "journal articles", "books" and "dissertations". It is inconvenient that there is no "electronic document" to include articles from websites such as "Bamboo Slips" and "Bamboo Slips Research". We have to use "average" instead. Second, there are no months and days in all fields of the header record type. When dealing with books, I want to add monthly data; When dealing with website articles, there is no ready-made place to add months and days. Helpless, we have to use the "date" field. Accordingly, there is no ready-made place for website articles to fill in the website name, and they can be placed in "journals". The detailed address of the net text has a ready-made field of "Link".

After entering a piece of data, click one of the top three buttons to save and exit. If you want to move on to the next project, just cycle it.

Second, retrieve the import from the database. For friends who write bamboo slips and the ancient history of China, there are three databases that are often used. One is CNKI, that is, China HowNet; The other is Peking University; The third is the North-North Joint Cataloguing Center.

Let's talk about China HowNet. At present, the developer recommends searching in China HowNet, selecting the titles to be added in batches, saving them as text files, and then importing them with the filters provided by the developer. Or after saving the record, select All, copy, and then select "From Clipboard" in the import record to import. It should be noted that there are many versions of CNKI, which can only be imported correctly by using the corresponding filters.

Actually, there is a relatively simple method. That is, first use the medical literature king, use its right mouse button to save the title record, then import the literature king, then export it, and then import it into NoteExpress. This actually involves the third method.

The data of Peking University and Beitu are about books. Can be retrieved and imported in batches. For example, you can search for the keywords of "Bamboo Slips", "Chu Slips" and "Qin Slips" or a famous scholar, and the results are batch by batch. You can also use "Zhonghua Book Company" and "Cultural Relics Publishing House" as keywords, and more titles are hit. But this kind of retrieval is always problematic, and some common books may not go out. Be careful.

Third, transfer from other file management programs. If you or your friends have ready-made data, you can avoid a lot of trouble. If it is also NoteExpress data, it can be opened directly for other processing. If it is other software, NoteExpress has made corresponding filtering, as long as it is exported and imported correctly, there is no problem. [5]

Folding bibliography

What needs to be added is that the bibliography is what we usually call literature. Because this is not the document itself, but the title and related information of the document, it may be more appropriate for NoteExpress developers to call it a title record.

A tacit intention of all of us as a topic library is to insert the required topics in time when writing. Don't just go through it one by one, enter it one by one.

In the design of NoteExpress, title insertion is mainly done through Word plug-ins. Although this function is basically a useless burden to our business, it is better to introduce it-otherwise developers may feel aggrieved.

NoteExpress is installed correctly, and the NoteExpress toolbar after restarting word is shown in the following figure:

You can also enable or disable this plug-in through the NoteExpress menu "Menu-> Options -> Word Plug-in"-it is recommended to "disable" this toolbar immediately when you are not happy with it.

Click on the References folder or its subfolders of NoteExpress, and select one or more references from the reference list-this selection can also be achieved by searching, especially in the case of too many references-and return to the Word window. Click Insert Citation on the toolbar where reference information needs to be inserted in the document.

Click the Format Reference button on the toolbar, select the output style to use in the Format form that appears, and then click the OK button to complete the reference formatting.

If you need to undo the result of Formatting References, click the Format References and References button.

If the formatting of some reference information introduced into the paper has been completed and you don't want to change it, you can select it in the paper first, and then click the "Clear all domain codes" button. After clearing all domain codes, clicking "Format Reference" or "Delete Format Reference and Reference" will no longer affect the information in this document.

I have to say that this function looks beautiful, but in fact it is of little use. Because it produces a bibliography, there is only one endnote.

This supplementary method is a "formatted copy" of NoteExpress. When we select the title record we want to insert, press the right mouse button-format the copy, and then paste it at the insertion point of the WORD document, and a title record is inserted. This insertion position can be chosen at will, of course, we will use it more for footnotes or endnotes. [5]

Folding output style editing

Style is very important when quoting titles. Through Tools-Output Style-Select Output Style, the required output style of references can be determined, so that the references cited in the document can meet the requirements of the submitter.

Different publications and publishers often have different requirements for annotations. NoteExpress will probably establish some citation styles of common publications at home and abroad through gradual accumulation. However, at this stage, it is inevitable for users to establish their own style. In the future, there will be more output styles of NoteExpress, and it is impossible to cover everything. Sometimes you have to do it yourself.

Editing output styles is actually relatively simple. Through Tools-Output Style-Output Style Manager, you can freely modify or create styles. Let's talk about creation first.

Click New to enter the Style Editor and select Reference-Template. Click the "Title Record Type" button and select the appropriate type, such as general, journal articles and books. At this point, the corresponding edit fields named General, Journal Articles or Books will appear in the edit box. Then click the "Insert Field" button several times, and select a field in the required position, such as Author, Journal, Title, Year, Period, etc. , enter punctuation and insert separators as needed (there is something wrong with the separator in the current version, and the developer has promised to improve it), and then save it. When saving, you will be prompted to enter the file name, just enter the name of the log or style you defined.

Convert by using an existing style. Select a template similar to your needs in the Manager and transform it to meet your own needs. It will be easier this way. However, there will be a little trouble, that is, when using this style to refer to the title record, redundant paragraph marks will appear and need to be deleted one by one.

Among peers, styles are often the same. Therefore, friends can exchange styles. The most direct way is to copy it into the style directory (NoteExpress/Styles), put it in another directory, and then press "Refresh" in the style manager, and the style can be displayed for your use.

It is an inconvenience that many occasions in NoteExpress cannot be updated immediately and need to be refreshed manually. It may improve in the future. [5]

Folding record operation

Click the right mouse button in the title box of NoteExpress or the title bar of the toolbar, and there are commands such as creating a new title, editing a title, deleting a title, adding title comments, formatting and copying, marking, moving to a folder, linking to a folder and copying to a folder.

1, new title record. For details, please refer to "First, enter manually" in "NoteExpress Data Addition".

2. Edit the title record. This is usually done when the existing property rights records need to be modified, and the method is the same as above.

3. Delete the title record. This is the simplest. Select the title record to delete, click Delete and confirm that one or a batch of titles will no longer exist. Do it happily, but be careful.

4. Add notes to the title book. This is a special design of NoteExpress. Create notes in multiple-choice book, add notes in the book, draw up folders for new notes, and edit notes in the diary editing interface that appears. This process can also be reversed. That is, click the note in the database box on the right to open the note editing interface, and then write the note. Link the notes to the title book if necessary. This function is not particularly practical. There are a lot of titles and notes. What should I do? Like other document management programs, it seems more practical to create comments in the title book and honestly write the title book and comments.

5. Format the copy. This is actually a reference to the title record. See "V. Title Record Reference of NoteExpress".

6. mark. This is to mark the title of the book. Options are from 0 to 4 and ***5. Its meaning is given by ourselves. For example, we can regard 0 as nothing and 1 as something (that is, do we have the full text). You can further think of 1 as a paper document and 2 as an electronic document.

7. Move to a folder. Select the header record, move it to a folder, and specify the folder to move it to. The selected title record will disappear in the original folder and exist in the moved folder.

8. Link to a folder. Select the title record, link it to a folder, and specify the folder to link. The selected title record will exist in both the original folder and the newly linked folder.

9. Copy to a folder. Select the title record, copy it to the folder, and specify the folder to copy. The selected title record will exist in both the original folder and the copied folder. [5]

Collapse search and duplicate check

1, search

The search function of NoteExpress is simple and practical. Click the folder to search-references or notes, and enter the fields to search (author, title, keywords, etc. ) and press Enter. All titles or comments that meet the requirements will be listed.

NoteExpress also has a Seachers folder, where Seachers recently saved the latest search results (the number of reservations can be customized in Tools-Options.

The search of NoteExpress also has disadvantages, that is, it can't be narrowed down, such as searching only in a subfolder in References. So it's a little inconvenient.

2. Check the weight

NoteExpress's duplicate checking function is new and obviously not mature enough. Usage: Tools-Find duplicate records, select duplicate folders in duplicate folders to be checked, select fields in duplicate fields to be checked, and press Find to display duplicate records. You can delete unnecessary content in duplicate records.

Preliminary tests show that there are three problems with this function in the current version:

First of all, although you can select subfolders, the actual search scope is still the whole reference. So there is no need to select a subdirectory according to the nominal label.

Second, the search results are not arranged by author.

Third, and most importantly, it is impossible to know which subfolder these duplicate records belong to, so it is difficult to judge whether they are duplicated or intentionally entered (for example, duplicate records are intentionally created by copying and linking functions). A very thoughtful design in Biblioscape is that we can click the right mouse button to see which folder any title belongs to. It is worth learning from NoteExpress as soon as possible.
