Guangxi technological college of machinery and electricity was founded in 1958, located at the beautiful Acacia Lake and Yongjiang River in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, the "China Greentown". It is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education and affiliated to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is the first batch of national demonstration backbone higher vocational colleges in Guangxi.

Nanning college for vocational technology, formerly known as Nanning Vocational College, was founded in 1984. It is a full-time comprehensive higher vocational college sponsored by the Nanning Municipal People's Government and jointly established by the autonomous region and Nanning. In June 2009, the school passed the demonstration construction acceptance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and became the first batch of 28 national demonstration higher vocational colleges in Guangxi.
The school covers an area of 120 hectares, with a school building area of more than 500,000 square meters, more than 7000 full-time vocational students/kloc-0, and more than 3200 adult continuing education students.
The school closely follows the industrial layout and structural adjustment of Guangxi, especially Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, and builds a professional system. The school has 10 secondary colleges and more than 50 higher vocational majors, including 1 national quality specialty. Six majors, including mechatronics, hotel management, logistics management, interior design technology, Thai language application and software technology, are key national demonstration construction majors.
