The highest point in Hesse is RH &；; Wasserkuppe(950) in oumln Mountain. Some or all of the following rivers flow through Hesse. Among them, the Rhine River is the state boundary with Rhine-Pfalcz in the southwest of Hesse, and Neckar also uses one of the river sections to form a boundary with Baden-Wü rttemberg in the south. Others, such as the Vera River and the Fulda River, form natural political boundaries with Thuringia in the east and Lower Saxony in the north of Hesse. There are no large-scale natural lakes in Hesse. The largest water storage lake is Lake Ed in northern Hesse. On February 2, 2003, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) led by Hesse Governor Roland Koch won by a high vote, and Koch was re-elected as governor. The state government consists of the State Affairs Department (the general office of the state government) and eight functional departments: the Ministry of Interior and Sports, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Science and Art, the Ministry of Economic and Transportation Development, the Ministry of Environment, Land and Consumer Protection and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
