2.ITC (International Trade Center), referred to as ITC, is an institution jointly established by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). It was established in 1964 and is jointly managed by the United Nations and the WTO. As an executing agency of the United Nations Development Programme, ITC is directly responsible for implementing trade promotion projects funded by UNDP in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.
ITC cooperates with developing countries and countries with economies in transition to help developing countries formulate effective trade promotion plans to expand exports and improve import business; Establish national trade information support services, disseminate information about products, services, markets and businesses to enterprises and trade organizations, and lay the foundation for business decision-making and trade promotion programs; Develop human resources, strengthen international procurement, logistics and supply chain management capacity training and consulting services, so that enterprises can achieve the purpose of saving costs and increasing profits in the trade system and practice. Its projects have been supported by the United Nations, WTO or member countries.
At present, technical assistance mainly includes the following six key areas:
1, develop products and open up markets;
2. Carry out trade support business;
3. Trade information;
4. Developing human resources;
5. International procurement and supply management;
6. Needs assessment and programme planning for trade promotion.
ITC's technical support focuses on three aspects:
1, to help enterprises understand the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO);
2. Enhance the competitiveness of enterprises;
3. Formulate a new trade promotion strategy.
ITC's technical cooperation projects cover every developing region, including national projects, regional, sub-regional and interregional projects, which are mainly formulated according to the needs of the countries concerned. All kinds of projects are directly managed and implemented by ITC.
Country projects involve a wide range of services, including expanding the country's exports and improving its import business, and sometimes only involve a certain type of activities. For regional, sub-regional and interregional projects, ITC can provide one or more technical services according to the needs of the countries concerned in trade promotion and export development.
All technical cooperation projects of ITC are carried out under systematic supervision and evaluation, so as to ensure the realization of the cooperation objectives initially agreed between the relevant governments and ITC.
For the first time, China sent representatives to attend the ITC Annual Meeting 1978. From 65438 to 0979, ITC began to provide technical assistance to China. China was once one of the biggest recipients of the International Trade Center. Since 1984, our government has donated 50,000 US dollars to ITC every year, and by 1999, it has donated 800,000 US dollars. Our donations are generally used for projects that are closely related to me.
The secretariat of the center is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
