No, the author Mr. Cao Xueqin told us that Jia Baoyu finally became a monk, not only because he suffered great setbacks in the decline of his family, but also because he had a glorious root in Buddhism. Therefore, the author specially arranged for Jia Baoyu to realize Zen in verse 22.
So, did Jia Baoyu realize anything in this meditation? Judging from the original text, after Wu Chan, Jia Baoyu admitted that he had "not yet realized" because of Dai Yu's bullying. Does this mean that he didn't realize anything?
On the contrary, although Baoyu was forced to be speechless by Daiyu, his meditation was very rewarding. He learned at least two things from it: first, he believed that he was very careful, but he used his heart in the wrong place, which was purely romantic; The second is that you think you are very talented, but in fact you are very incompetent.
Baoyu's mission is to protect flowers, and Wu Chan made him realize that all the parties don't need his love. Jia Baoyu has always been conceited, and he is as independent as the world. He thinks that the knowledge of the world is inferior to his. The whole world is running around in fame and fortune, and only he regards caring for boudoir women as his mission. Moreover, his love for boudoir women is completely free from the filth and selfishness that the world thinks. He just hopes that every boudoir woman can avoid worldly troubles and bloom beautifully.
Therefore, when Baochai and others advised him to make progress, he sarcastically said, "A clean and white daughter has also learned to earn fame and become a traitor."
In his view, girls should be like flowers, just bloom and don't be contaminated with worldly fame and fortune. To this end, he is willing to stay in the curtain all his life and be driven away by his sisters willingly.
In his mind, this is a great cause, and his caring sisters will happily accept his love and care, willing to surround him for a long time and enjoy his love.
However, on this day, his eyesight was hit.
On this day, it is Baochai's birthday, and everyone is watching the play together. -Feng naughtily pointed to a performer and said to everyone, "This child is dressed like a person, and you will never see it again." She deliberately didn't say who it was, but everyone got the message but didn't poke. Only Xiangyun was so nervous that she said, "It looks like Sister Lin."
Baoyu knew that Daiyu was young and Xiangyun would offend Daiyu by saying this, so he winked at Xiangyun. Unexpectedly, Dai Yu and Xiangyun were ungrateful for his kindness, and they all lost their temper with him. Originally, I wanted to maintain the two places, but as a result, "the two places smashed." This is what the old saying goes: Good intentions do something wrong, so it backfires. How can it not be frustrating?
What saddens Baoyu even more is that his kindness offended two people, but there was no bad blood between them. Instead, they talked and laughed, leaving him alone as a flower protector. This is "I give my heart to the moon, but the moon shines on the ditch." Baoyu has deep doubts about his flower protection career: Do they really need my care? Why do I break my heart for them and they don't appreciate it? I was so worried about them, but they loved each other and left me in the cold, making me a "naked person".
"Come and go streaking without care" is Lu's lyrics in "Drunk Wutai Mountain". Lu is also a man of wisdom and foundation, so there is Zen in his lyrics. Baoyu only felt beautiful when he heard this lyric, and later he understood its connotation.
Lu is also a meddlesome and alarmist. He changed his fate because he was drunk in Kansai Town. At first he became a monk to avoid disaster, but in the end he became a real monk because of enlightenment.
This is what Zhifu pointed out: "Baoyu's heartless heart cannot but flow in a heartless place." Being a monk is empty, that is, heartless, and can let go of everything. Jia Baoyu was originally an affectionate person, but in the process of enlightenment, he realized that family ties are easily annoyed because people don't need them. So, slowly, he will move from affectionate to heartless.
This was the first harvest of Baoyu's enlightenment: he realized that the amorous feelings he had always been proud of were actually romantic. As the protector of his career, Zhu Fang doesn't need it, so he won't appreciate it. As he read "Zhuangzi", "The mountain is self-destructive, which comes from theft", and everything is self-destructive.
Baoyu's conceit made him realize that he was actually an incompetent person. Baoyu's conceit is not only conceited and knowledgeable, but also conceited and talented. He took protecting the flowers in the boudoir as his mission, and it was because of his conceit that he was able to protect Zhu Fang and let them bloom carefree.
However, in the case of Daiyu and Xiangyun, he realized, "Now, these two people have not compromised. What do you want in the future? " At present, there are only two contradictions, and he has no ability to solve them. What can he do in the future? What is the ability to help more boudoir women?
This blow is also quite heavy, and I have high self-confidence ability. Suddenly I found myself unable to solve the simplest problem, and my previous self-confidence disappeared without a trace. Reminiscent of a sentence in the Southern Classics, "A clever woman can't cook without rice, and an incompetent person has nothing to ask for, but swims to eat, making it like a lonely boat in the sea. Without goals and directions, life suddenly loses its meaning. "
Under this psychological effect, Baoyu wrote a poem:
You prove me, and the heart proves the meaning.
No evidence, but no evidence.
There is no cloud proof, it is based on the situation.
Sister-in-law is difficult to understand, and Baoyu made up a "parasitic grass" for fear that others would not understand:
I'm not you, and I don't know Iraq from him. It's okay to come and go. What are you sad about, and what are you happy about? Everyone said they were close and dense? Why was it boring before? It's boring to think back now!
This song "Parasitic Grass" fully expresses Baoyu's confusion and helplessness at this time. Baoyu is affectionate, and his feelings are expected to be answered. I am good to you, and I hope you are good to me. I love you, I hope you can feel my love for you. So in his mind, the relationship between people is established through interaction. Without interaction, there will be no sorrow and joy, and there will be barriers between people.
From this, we can also see the Buddha nature of Baoyu and the conflict between his ideas and Confucianism after China's entry into WTO. The closeness of Confucianism is determined by blood, but Baoyu thinks it is determined by communication. There is no intimacy without interaction, and there is no sorrow and joy without interaction.
However, Baoyu's idea was impacted at this time. Xiangyun and Daiyu are the people who interact with him the most. Xiangyun spent his childhood with him, and Daiyu spent his youth with him. They were close enough to eat and sleep together. However, when the conflict broke out, two close people alienated him, but he could do nothing.
So, here he has a reflection: "Why was it boring before? It' s boring to think back now! " Why did I love you so much before? Now that I think about it, everything has become boring. Doing nothing is boring, and everything that has been done becomes meaningless. Meaningless. Why do you do this? Therefore, becoming a monk is heartless, with no relatives or friends, no sadness or happiness. You can leave your family behind. From now on, your relatives are donors, and strangers are also donors.
This kind of self-reflection and self-denial is very profound. Although Baoyu soon recovered from the scar, forgot the pain, and was still busy in the boudoir, his influence on becoming a monk in the future has already penetrated into the bone marrow and will automatically emerge.
These are the two great gains of Baoyu's enlightenment: he realized his self-love and incompetence. These two gains are the two major factors that will urge him to "pull back from the brink" in the future: he will be ruthless because of his feelings, and he will definitely give up and leave; Because he is incompetent, he knows that the world doesn't need him, and he doesn't deserve to stay in the secular world and make mistakes.
