Shanghai University of Engineering Science is one of the first batch of 6 1 pilot universities in the "Excellent Engineer Program" of the Ministry of Education, and also one of the national 12 pilot universities. It is a Shanghai-owned university with a focus on engineering and a coordinated development of science, management, literature, economics and art.
The school was founded in 1978, formerly known as the Mechanical and Electrical Branch of Shanghai Jiaotong University. 1984 east China institute of chemical technology (now east China university of science and technology) merged into the electromechanical branch of Shanghai jiaotong university. 1985 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shanghai University of Engineering Science was established on the basis of the Electromechanical Branch of Shanghai Jiaotong University and East China Institute of Textile Technology (now Donghua University).
Shanghai University of Engineering Science is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning with mutual penetration and coordinated development of engineering technology, economic management, art design and other disciplines. All undergraduate majors in the school (except Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs) implement a complete credit system with a standard academic system of 4 years, and students can complete their studies within 3-6 years.
