Construction has begun. According to the information of the Nigerian Railway Modernization Project jointly built by China and Nepal, the Sino-Nepalese Railway started construction in 2008. The Sino-Nepalese Railway extended the branch line of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to the Geelong Port in Geelong County on the border between China and Nepal, and then extended to Kathmandu, with a total length of 724 kilometers. Extending 540 kilometers from Shigatse to Jilong section, it is about to be completed.
