Our sinking lake (4)

Our sunken lake

Wen Shu Shang Yonghua

1, I saw "1"

? 1 Army was developed by the Eighth Route Army 120 Division on the battlefield behind enemy lines in Shanxi during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, so in the 1970s and 1980s, many officers above the regimental level were from Zhongshan. When the sixth regiment entered the lake, its head was Liu Fayao.

? When Colonel Liu was in Shenhu, I was still in the communication class of the Second Battalion. A small "recruit an egg shaped thing" naturally doesn't care about or know the head of the regiment, and he didn't know the "No.1" of his regiment until he saw him alone on the levee. An insider spoiler said that Liu Tuanchang is the battalion commander of the Wuhan Military Region Guard Battalion. After returning to Tanzania as a military adviser, he "parachuted" to be the head of the Sixth Regiment.

? In the early 1970s, when we were soldiers, commanders at or above the regimental level in field troops all had code names. This code name follows the name of the war years. The chief officers such as the colonel, division commander and commander are code-named No.1, the political commissar above the regiment level is called No.2, the deputy colonel, division commander and deputy commander are called No.3, the deputy political commissar is called No.4, the chief of staff is called No.5, the director of the political department (division) is called No.6 and the deputy chief of staff is called No.7.

? Usually, the chief officials of "No.1" and "No.2" are called by code names instead of surnames. There are also several deputies, namely "No.3", "No.4", "No.8" and "No.9". In order to distinguish clearly, use surname+code name to call. This is the case. If a deputy director of the political department is surnamed Wang, it will be embarrassing to call him, and sometimes he can't say it. According to regulations, the official name is "Wang Ba". All the troops made a lot of jokes, because there were many "Wang Ba".

? "No.1" of the Sixth Regiment is very serious and unsmiling. Many times I saw him alone, with his hands behind his back and his head down, pacing slowly on the levee of Shenhu main canal, thinking about something. This group of young recruits under the levee knew that the colonel was on the levee, and they all gathered quietly and looked up carefully. In our minds, the head of the regiment is a very big official, like Qianshan, who spans thousands of waters in Qian Shan and is unattainable. We are very lucky to see him today. Someone wrote home and said, I saw the colonel.

? The second-in-command of the Sixth Regiment is Yan, the political commissar. I have no idea how old he is. He looks very old and his skin is a little dark. Privately, the political commissar Yan is a prisoner of the "national army." The regiment seems to be led by a political commissar. Political commissar Yan was established as a "focal leading cadre" by Nanjing Military Region.

? Around the 1980s, this kind of address, which followed the war years, gradually disappeared in the army for some reason and was replaced by surname+position. Maybe it's a long time of peace, so the commander's information doesn't need to be kept secret.

? After the troops were transferred to Jiangnan, "Liu No.1" became the deputy commander. From 65438 to 0979, he graduated from Nanjing Infantry School and worked as a staff officer in the division. Next to the dormitory is the home of Deputy Commander Liu. After work, we play in the Lanting in front of his house every day, and he plays from time to time. Later, he and Wang Yun, political commissar of the Second Division, became children's in-laws, and their son-in-law was excellent. He has served as the communication battalion commander of the second division, the staff officer of the communication department of the first army, the head of the military communication group, and the chief of staff and commander of the Jiujiang Military Division of Jiangxi Province. Colonel Liu later retired from the army and lived in Wuxi cadre's rest home. When his grandson got married in Hangzhou in 20 19, my wife and I went to the wedding specially. At that time, he was as energetic as before.

? Before and after the Sixth Regiment went to Shenhu, there was also a Shanxi head named Yang. Later, Colonel Yang was transferred to Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, and became the safety director of the People's Bank of China. One year when I was on family leave, he happened to visit the city where my parents worked, and we met once.

2. The squad leader Fang Jinan

? A former soldier, no matter whether the future is promising or worthless, goes to the ends of the earth or the ends of the earth, big or small, rich or poor, and his monitor is the most grateful and unforgettable.

? The squad leader is a "soldier-to-soldier" official who deals directly with soldiers. Soldiers are usually seventeen or eighteen, and their families are still children. When they arrive in the army, they have to live independently, be worldly, be warm and cold, wash clothes and fold quilts, and know nothing. It is up to the monitor to teach them bit by bit. The monitor is actually the concept of brother, teacher and parents, although he is only a few years older than the soldiers he leads.

? My monitor is Fang Jinan. He is the monitor of the second battalion communication class. He joined the army on 197 1, only two years before me.

? Fang monitor is from Dongguan, Guangdong. He is not tall but well-proportioned, with deep eyes, thick eyebrows, thick lips and big feet. He walked very fast, shaking from side to side, like a coastal fisherman. It has all the obvious characteristics of Cantonese people. The monitor China in my mind has never made any mistakes. Everything is natural after careful consideration. All the leaders in the camp, whether difficult or casual, trust and rely on him whether they have ideas or not. Of course, this is especially true for us. At that time, there was a secretary in the camp, a Shandong native named Guo, who was a heavy smoker. This secretary is a secretary in the sense of non-leadership, similar to the role of "secretary-general" of the battalion headquarters, and is the cadre who leads the monitor. But basically he has the final say, and the squad leader is responsible for the internal affairs of the camp.

? Fang monitor is very sunny, but he never knows what to worry about when he meets something. He always smiles and never knows how tired he is at work. I often bend my arms and drum my uneven muscles to show off to us and say, look!

? Fang monitor told us the responsibilities of the communication class and the methods and skills to do a good job. Cantonese-flavored Mandarin sounds good.

? Monitor Fang reasoned with us and taught us how to be a soldier in the army and how to deal with things. He curses when he is angry. The classic format is: TMD, how could you do this?

? Fang monitor works hard and is not afraid of being dirty, tired or bitter. He knows all the techniques of planting rice and releasing ducks, holding a pinch in his hand.

3. Go to the market to sell duck eggs

? The action and image that impressed my opponent's monitor the most was that he chose duck eggs to sell.

? There are many leftover duck eggs. So selling duck eggs has become one of his special jobs. Full of two baskets, squat down, put a pole on your shoulder, push your legs hard, and walk barefoot. He basically did it alone. Several times, I wanted to go to the market and asked to go with him. He agreed happily and went to Hull Town, where people gathered more, or Wanfuzha Market. The busy market is very lively, and duck eggs are sold out soon. Take away the money sold, then buy meat and vegetables and pick them back to the camp to improve the food.

? I let the ducks go with the monitor Fang for a while. Put on a standard three-piece suit, take a long bamboo pole with a big bamboo hat on his back, and go barefoot to the duck shed. As soon as the ducks saw someone coming, they quacked loudly and rushed to meet them. When the door was opened, the duck flapped its wings and waddled out. In tandem, we drove a large group of ducks to the river to eat fish and shrimp, and went to the rice fields to eat the rice left over from the harvest. I don't remember yelling at ducks. My mouth is not idle anyway. I used shouts and long bamboo poles to command ducks to move forward, backward, left and right, cross the river and go to the fields. The ducks also obeyed the orders. Very interesting.

? Because it was so excellent, it didn't take long for Fang monitor to be promoted. At first, he was the secretary of the brigade, and later he became a platoon leader. Long lines lead troops, and the way out is better. The battalion leader may just want him to lead the troops, and he can be reused if he has qualifications and experience. Later, after I left the camp and transferred to the group rotation training team, because it was far away, I had less contact. The troops left the lake and returned to Shangqiu, and then moved from the Central Plains to the south of the Yangtze River. Then I went to school and lost contact.

? Decades later, there are different opinions about his whereabouts. Some comrades said that Fang went to Shenzhen after changing jobs and retired from the political commissar of the Luohu District Public Security Bureau. It is also reported that he jumped ship and returned to Dongguan, made a fortune in this hot land of reform and opening up, became a big boss, and had his own RV. Not many bosses didn't have their own RV in the 1990s. But no matter which news is accurate, he has done well. Therefore, there is a saying in the army that educates people: people who do well in the army will not be bad anywhere.

4. Is the meter tube enough?

? Although it is hard to work in Shenhu, it is no problem to eat enough, and the glistening rice is enough.

? Before entering the lake, when I was training in Shangqiu military camp in Henan Province, I ate mostly pasta or "two meals". Pasta is mainly steamed bread, noodles and wowotou. "Erfan" is a mixture of rice and millet, steamed, half white and half yellow, white, soft and yellow, and not very good in taste. When they heard about eating pure rice, the soldiers were very happy, especially those in Hubei and Sichuan. Gather and sing before meals, and start to grab meals as soon as you enter the dining hall. Others invented the trick of eating more rice: the first bowl is packed with less and eaten quickly, and the second bowl is packed with full compaction. In order to save food, the company sometimes only eats two meals on Sunday.

? Only eat two meals a day on rest days, which is more common in the northern garrison. Even when I was studying in Shijiazhuang Senior Army School 1984 to 1986, the school was also like this. I often ate the so-called "second meal" and "wowotou", and my classmates had great opinions.

? The silt deposited in the lake for many years is extremely fertile, and seedlings can thrive without fertilization at all. When they arrived in Shenzhen and Shanghai, they ate their own food, completely eliminating "Erfan" and "Wowotou". The officers and men are naturally very happy. Coupled with the diversified management of raising pigs and growing vegetables, eating is definitely much better than Henan. It's just that there were no tables and chairs in the company cafeteria at that time. When having a meal, a class forms a circle, with two aluminum pot in the middle to hold the whole class's food. Everyone squatted on the ground to eat.

? During the two years of production in the lake, the brigade raised a large group of ducks, and all companies also built duck sheds, raised a large number of ducks and collected a lot of duck eggs every day. Except some of them are sold to people in the market, most of them are owned by the security forces, so eating duck eggs in Shenhu is free. The second battalion canteen fries a large pot of food every day. This basin is as big as the aluminum washbasin commonly used by ordinary people in the past, and it is the munitions used by the cookhouse squad to make a big pot. So that the sight of fried duck eggs will make me sick.

I like helping the kitchen best.

? There are few cooks in the camp, and the system of taking turns to help the kitchen is implemented. I like helping the kitchen best. It's my turn to help the kitchen. I can go shopping and supervise the quality of ingredients purchased by breeders. You can also learn knife work, ingredients and cooking from old chefs. Therefore, the so-called "knife cutter" of slicing and shredding is not very sophisticated, but once he is on the upper body, he has been with him until now. Sometimes the task of helping the chef is to make a fire, crouch behind the big stove and burn the cauldron with firewood and coal. The soldier in charge kept shouting "Fire"! "small fire"! "put out the fire"! "fire" After hearing the password, adjust the fire with a coal shovel and an iron hook in time. Sometimes when a dish is ready, an old hand will let him try it. At this time, the dishes that are just cooked and still steaming in the pot are the most attractive. Just pick a small piece of meat, sliced meat and shredded pork and taste it. It feels really good.

? There are relatively few varieties of vegetables grown by ourselves, and some vegetables can't be supplied naturally, so for a period of time, wax gourd has become the main course of every meal, and rice can't be separated from wax gourd noodles. I don't know if it is the lack of other dishes, or the unbalanced nutrition, or what the reason is. For a time, the soldiers suffered from the problem of "rotten egg skin", and the boys' crotch was peeling and itchy, so they had to scratch around and were embarrassed to see a doctor. Everyone says eating melons is too much trouble, so they call this dish "rotten crotch dish".

? Later, I left the second battalion and transferred to the group rotation training team. This unit has a small number of people, has no production tasks, and does not raise pigs, vegetables and ducks. The food is much lower than that of camp and company. It's hard to resist There is a way. The rotation training team is close to the company directly under the regimental headquarters. When you find out which company eats steamed buns and the food is good, you will ask fellow villagers or familiar soldiers for something to eat. Sometimes these people will take the initiative to inform you. There's really nothing we can do. Go to the kitchen of your canteen and pour some soy sauce or some raw vegetable oil. Actually, it's delicious. I swallowed a bowl of rice. Many years later, I went to work in Ningbo and found that soy sauce bibimbap is actually a special meal in Ningbo.
