Let me first say a word from Andrew grove, the president of Intel, because this word has always inspired me when I am in a confused state of job hunting.
Sadly, nobody owes you a job. This is entirely your own business, and you are responsible for it alone. Your only employee is yourself. Millions of workers all over the world are competing with you. You need to grasp your future, your skills, and your action plan.
It is your duty to protect your career from infringement and make it benefit from various environments. Nobody can do it for you.
Only paranoia can survive-andrew groff, CEO of Intel Corporation.
Finally, I sold myself. I am a very good IT communication company in China, engaged in IT hardware development and got more than six Offer. I feel like a burden.
It should be said that I have no strength in finding a job. As far as school is concerned, I went to a very ordinary school, majoring in electronic engineering. Not bad, but the academic performance is really poor. For four years, I have never won a scholarship, but I often make up exams. As far as community activities and social practice are concerned, I seldom participate. As far as certificates are concerned, I have nothing but a diploma, a degree certificate and an English certificate.
I remember last February, I started to panic. On the one hand, I still hope to develop in Beijing in the future. On the other hand, in the face of such fierce competition, my confidence in myself is basically zero.
Looking back on the four-year course of this university, there are four words that can best sum up my life: in fact, I don't want to learn, but I always feel that I don't know what to do with what I will learn in the future.
However, I am still a person who takes precautions. I know I should prepare in advance. In August 2002, I tried my best to get an interview opportunity through channels and relationships. That night, I have been thinking about what to say, because I know very well that I wouldn't have an interview without the recommendation of my friends. I have been analyzing for a long time, and I want to give full play to my strengths. I am good at expressing, but I am also empty. I really feel like I haven't learned anything.
I still remember the interview that day. After taking a seat, the technical manager said, Do you have your resume? Your resume is in my computer. I didn't come to read it in a hurry (I think it's over, people didn't even read their resumes. It must be a formality). I immediately handed my resume to the manager who looked very capable: Did you study electronics? I said, "Yes," and then I said, "Well, tell me something about yourself." So, I began to introduce myself for I don't know how long, and listed all the advantages I can think of, from my adaptability and learning ability to a certain social practice I have done. Finally, the manager interrupted my explanation and said, "well, let's do it." Tell me about your experience in electronic engineering when you were at school. " After asking, all my thoughts finally stopped. Finally, I honestly told the manager that I hadn't done any projects, and said with some sophistry, "You know, schools usually teach textbook knowledge." The manager looked at me and smiled and said, well, well, if we.
Later, I learned from my friends that the core reason for my cancellation was actually very simple. This company doesn't want people with no work experience. I heard the manager's original words from my friends, which were like this: No, we don't want graduates. They also know that from my feeling, the adaptability and learning ability are quite good, and graduates are easy to manage. The main reason is that I really haven't worked in "electronic engineering". If I have some work experience at school, even a little, they will consider it. After all, I have some personal relationships.
After this incident, I was even more scared. I know my own psychology very well. What employers want is "What did you do?" "instead of" what did you learn? "I didn't even know this at first.
I got two inspirations from this incident: 1, job hunting is a communication process, whether it is resume communication or interview communication, you should learn to market yourself; 2. In fact, the most terrible thing is that I want to directly convey one thing: "I did one thing during my school years and have work experience", which is the only place I can win, because in the current market, companies are looking for someone who can get on the road quickly, and he will not forgive me for a graduate who has no technical experience.
However, in this case, am I a dead end?
In fact, I sometimes think that sometimes people in their own lives, some things, if others tell us, is a very simple truth, but sometimes, we have to pay a heavy price and price to understand. Up to now, I am very grateful to my hometown, because he inspired me and pointed out the direction for me to find a job. I met that fellow villager by chance and worked as a marketer in the IT field.
I remember telling him my fears and worries when I was chatting casually. ...
I really want to develop in Beijing, and I don't want to go abroad, let alone go to school. However, it is very difficult to find a job in the present form.
My fellow villager asked me, "What do you think is difficult?"
"Employers must have work experience, and it is difficult for us graduates to find suitable ones." I said.
"What you said is not entirely right. I am in an IT company. I should make it clear. I'm in technology development. Sometimes the unit is inclined to graduates, but at present they want graduates who have done some projects at the undergraduate level. This is the key. "
"So you mean, like me, it's hard to find the right one?"
"Let me tell you. Not absolutely. You must learn to make something out of nothing. " My fellow villager said. "I tell you the method is very simple. You don't need to take any certificates. Employers are not very interested in these. He only cares about one thing: have you done any projects? If he wants this, you can give him this. To put it bluntly, it's simple. First, decide which research and development field you will be employed in. Then, write a real project case in this field in your resume, and describe as little as possible what you have studied, what certificates you have, and what social activities you have participated in. "
"That's true, but I still don't know when people call me."
"This is the most critical problem that you must solve. You need to find a real project in reality to study and master it seriously. "
In the bitter search, I got lost in my hometown. He recommended me to contact a small organization, which is run by several "old hands" who have many years of experience in the field of IT hardware development, and is specially set up for people who have just entered the field of IT hardware development and are eager to change their wages. IT's still famous in the IT circle, but it's doing well. According to fellow villagers, because this institution teaches some "knowledge" and "experience" and skills that are most useful in reality, most IT practitioners are unwilling to communicate, so they dialed the phone with a grain of salt.
In the next three months of busy life, I should say that I learned knowledge, experience, project cases and the main key issues in finding a job there. Through this period of study, I feel that the knowledge and skills I have learned are more practical than those I have learned in the whole university for four years. I really understand: in the field of hardware development, if you have a very experienced person to take you, you can at least avoid detours for two years. At the same time, I am very surprised at the "lag" of school education relative to the actual demand. Is my four years of study really not worth these months? Can you imagine? What I have learned and practiced in three months, some engineers may need to explore for 2 ~ 3 years, but they may not be able to do it, not because of my good learning ability, but because of such a basic law, hardware development, is not taught by anyone, but by someone, which is very different.
From June 5438 to February 2002, I started a new round of resume delivery, but this time, I received unexpected results. In a week, I received 1 1 interview calls at the same time. The core of all my interviews is probably this: basically every unit cares about my resume "internship and project development experience during school"
I still remember some details of the interview with this IT communication company that I finally selected. I think the reason why this company informed me of the interview so quickly is mainly due to two points: my "development experience" during my school days and my upcoming graduation.
"When I was in school, I did some practical work experience through various channels, especially the PowerPc860 board (PowerPc860 is one of the most commonly used CPUs in the communication field, and a Cisco router uses 860), which may be very consistent with the company's requirements for the current position." My interviewer, who is now my technical director, smiled and nodded.
"Then tell me about your development of this board."
Next, I described the whole development project process, hardware structure and other development details. Because I really studied in that institution and did something, I described it to him smoothly.
"Please tell me the architecture of PowerPC860."
It is also my ingenious exposition of this issue.
The following problems are basically the same, such as CPM, bus structure, PCI interface design, physical layer interface, embedded RTOS and so on. It should be said that my answer is a bit unexpected for my technical director. How does a fresh graduate get in touch with what he is developing and using now? And have such a deep understanding and understanding of the details and technical problems in the development process?
So, of course, the director gave me the probation salary according to the salary standard of 1 working years, and told me that after the three-month probation period, it will be adjusted according to the situation; I am very happy because I am regarded as a special case of graduates by them.
Looking at my whole process, I want to sum up the following personal experiences:
1. The general idea of finding a job should be the combination of reality and reality.
2. Our own logic is always far from that of the employing unit. We think we may be looking for something that is very competitive at work. In the employer's opinion, it may not have much influence when he decides to interview you or hire you. For example, we all think that we didn't learn anything in college, and then spend money to learn a certificate to explain to the employer: I studied XX. In fact, in the eyes of employers, giving you an interview and employment is always a decision.
3. Actually, we can get into the university, and everyone is doing well. It's just that the education at school makes us far from what employers really need. All we want is to get a chance.
4, in the process of looking for a job, some of my suggestions:
1) First of all, we must figure out what kind of work we want to do, whether it is technical or non-technical. Personally, I think that if you major in technology, you'd better start with technical work. Only after this consideration can you have a clear orientation and write a targeted resume.
2) Personally, I think that if you draft a resume suitable for all kinds of jobs, your interview chances will be greatly reduced, and your resume must be tailored for the type of job you want to do.
3) If you are applying for a technical job, the only way to increase interview opportunities and finally get a good salary is to add "XXX development during school" to your resume, which is my personal experience. If you feel guilty about cheating, you have to give up this method, but your chances of getting a job will be few.
4) Technology is a real thing. If you want to break through the five levels and finally defeat the six generals, you must really find ways to learn the real development projects in reality. Someone better give you advice. In short, you must be able to really learn something from a certain channel. Real real projects and work experience, though difficult, are really effective.
At the end of the article, I still want to add some thoughts. We are all busy looking for a good job. To this end, we sometimes have to "make something out of nothing." As long as you can "justify yourself", don't feel guilty. Think about it, so many companies brag about it just to let more people who can bring him profits work hard for him. We just try our best to give ourselves a starting point and a chance to move forward. We just can't improve the gap between the current education situation in China and the actual needs of enterprises by ourselves. All we need is to find a "foundation" suitable for the needs of enterprises, so that we can get a job opportunity, because we believe in our learning ability and adaptability.
Perhaps, for a long time, we will still experience ups and downs on the road to job hunting, but I think: job opportunities will always belong to those who are prepared, and those who bypass some obstacles by their own "thoughts."
I hesitated for a long time and finally decided to post this thing. I just want to help everyone by showing us the truth in reality through my experience.
