The Origin of Bao Xu Village in Shan County

According to relevant information on the Internet, Bao Xu Village in Shan County is the origin of this village, Xuzhai. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the Xu family built this village, named Xu Xiaozhuang, which was the lower Zhuangzi of the Xu family in Xulou Village. The north-south street in the west of the village is the Xu family's horse racing trip (racecourse), and Xu Xiaozhuang is their training ground. There are several servants in the village who are responsible for raising horses and doing some chores. The decline of the Xu family originated from the death of the old patriarch surnamed Xu, which triggered the contradiction of competing for the position of patriarch within the Xu family. Since then, several generations of the Xu family have fallen into infighting, gradually declined, and finally had to sell their assets. During Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty, Xu Xiaozhuang was sold to a large family of Zhao. Xu and Zhao agreed that the name of the village must be changed from Xu, so Zhao changed Xu Xiaozhuang to Xu Zhai.
