Deng Jiaxian is one of the founders of China's theoretical research on nuclear weapons. He is the main organizer and leader of China's nuclear weapons research and development, and is known as the "father of the two bombs". In the research of atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb, Deng Jiaxian led the basic theoretical research of detonation physics, fluid mechanics, equation of state and neutron transport, completed the theoretical scheme of atomic bomb, and participated in guiding the detonation simulation test of nuclear test.

Since 1958, he has organized and led the basic theoretical research on detonation physics, fluid mechanics, equation of state, neutron transport and so on. 1June, 958, he and a large number of scientists were transferred to study the atomic bomb. After arriving in a sunny sorghum field in the suburbs of Beijing, he suddenly disappeared from the land of China.

At first, they were prepared to receive training from Soviet experts, but soon, the Soviet Union tore up the agreement and withdrew the experts, so Deng Jiaxian had to lead 28 newly graduated college students with an average age of only 23 years old and began a trek to the mysterious atomic kingdom.

As the director of the theoretical department of the Institute of Nuclear Weapons and the general manager of China's atomic bomb theory design, on the one hand, he set up an "Atomic Theory Literacy Class" to personally teach, coach and organize the translation and study of foreign materials, on the other hand, he thought about the main direction of the development of atomic bombs.

He correctly chose neutron physics, fluid mechanics and material properties under high temperature and high pressure as the main direction, and used simple tools such as abacus to carry out related heavy mathematical calculations. In the calculation of general mechanics of atomic bomb, there is a parameter, that is, the atmospheric pressure to be reached inside the atomic bomb when it explodes, which plays a decisive and important role in exploring the principle of atomic bomb.
