Brief Introduction of Hunan Vocational College of Information Science in Changsha
Invested by Hunan Daily Information Industry Co., Ltd. and approved by Hunan Provincial Education Department (former Education Committee), the College was established in 1997. Its predecessor, Hunan Institute of Information, was approved by the Education Department (the former Education Committee) as a pilot institution for private practical diploma examination on 1999, and moved to Maotang Environmental Protection Community in Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone in 2004. In the same year, higher vocational colleges were established with the approval of Hunan Private Association, and full-time national task plan students were enrolled. Since its establishment, the College has successively won 1 honors and achievements, such as outstanding private schools in Hunan Province, top ten private schools in the province, excellent evaluation of national talent training level, provincial demonstration higher vocational colleges, provincial institute of civilization, and first prize of teaching achievements in higher education, and has won many first and only school-running achievements among private colleges in the province. The college has six scientific research departments, including electronic information department, management science and engineering department, economy and trade department, humanities and arts department, public education department, physical education department, ideological and political theory department, and archives miniaturization and digitalization integration research center. Campus TV stations, radio stations, full-coverage electronic display screens, the Voice of Heart (Journal), the college website and other publicity platforms have also been set up. At present, there are more than 8,000 full-time students and more than 600 faculty members, including more than 50 people with the title of deputy senior or above/kloc-0. The campus covers an area of nearly 1,000 mu, and the library has more than 4 million books. The college has 102 in-school training (laboratory) bases (rooms) jointly built by the central government, provinces, cities, colleges and schools.
