Brief introduction of information technology planning

What the hell is it planning? What does IT planning need to do? Different people in the enterprise have different ideas; Outside the enterprise, software and hardware manufacturers and consulting companies will have different views. 1, the definITion of it planning

Popular view:

"IT planning" is the abbreviation of "information planning", which refers to putting forward the vision, objectives and strategies of enterprise informatization construction, as well as the architecture design, selection and implementation strategies of specific information systems on the basis of understanding the enterprise development strategy and evaluating the enterprise IT status quo, combined with the industry informatization practice and understanding of the latest information technology development, so as to comprehensively and systematically guide the enterprise informatization construction and meet the needs of enterprise sustainable development.

Technical school statement:

IT planning is very simple, that is, to establish an advanced and enterprise-level IT architecture and select a series of advanced software to realize the planned IT architecture.

Software company statement:

There was no IT planning before, and our software was very advanced. Many enterprises are using our software, which has stood the test of practice. Even without IT planning, this kind of software can completely create value for enterprises.

2. Definition of enterprise interior

Leader's statement:

IT doesn't matter what IT planning is or how it is defined. Most importantly, I hope this plan can support the development of our business and be implemented.

Business and other application departments:

IT planning is the business of IT department, which has little to do with us. IT planning should be that IT departments should consider how to build an information system for us, improve our work efficiency, and at best help us reduce operating costs.

What the IT department said:

IT planning is not only a matter for IT departments, but also a matter for business, finance, administration and other application departments all day. The leadership's investment in information construction is bottomless, and we should plan it out.

An information construction plan, and then apply for a budget from the leader, in order to buy back those servers, routers and software systems.

On the whole, IT planning is only a part of the ten-step closed loop of management informatization (as shown in figure 1). If IT planning wants to be recognized by leaders and business departments, it must be finally implemented, and it is an inevitable choice to proceed from business.

3. Broad sense and narrow sense of IT planning The broad sense of IT planning includes IS planning and narrow sense of IT planning. In terms of subdivision, the planning of "IS System Strategic Planning" (ISSP for short) is to form the vision, structure and logical relationship of each part of the information system on the basis of understanding the development vision and business planning of the enterprise, thus supporting the achievement of the business strategic planning (BSP for short) of the enterprise. Sometimes, we will see some discussions inside and outside the industry. The integration of ISSP and BSP is actually the connection between these levels. The "information technology strategic planning" IS to plan and arrange the supporting hardware, supporting software and supporting technology of each part of the information system after undertaking the IS strategy. In short, it is carried out around "T". Unless otherwise specified below, "IT planning" is broad.

In fact, the implementation of specific information projects is a "last resort" and needs to be carried out after the above strategies have been "stated". In reality, the informatization construction of many enterprises is just the opposite, starting with how to choose hardware and software.

4. "objectivity" and "subjectivity" of "IT planning"

IT planning is to solve two problems, one is objective and the other is subjective.

Due to the lack of IT planning, it is easy to lead to numerous systems, isolated information islands, high maintenance costs, low returns, high risks and so on. IT is with IT planning that we can avoid "sneaking around on watermelon skin" in information construction and objectively prevent the above serious consequences.
