Jizhou District is a famous historical and cultural city in Tianjin. 8,000 years ago, there were human activities in Qingcheng, Bieshan Town today. 6000 years ago, a village was formed in Weifang area in the east of the county.
Jizhou District belonged to Youyan in ancient times. It was called Wudongzi Kingdom in the Spring and Autumn Period and Wudongyi in the Warring States Period. The Qin Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Youbeiping County, which was renamed Yuyang County during the Sui Daye period. The Tang Dynasty was located in Jizhou, and Yuyang County was under the jurisdiction of Jizhou. The "Yuyang" mentioned in the poems of Du Fu, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty, and Bai Juyi's "Until the drums beat, the Yuyang rumbled and shook the earth" all refer to the Jizhou area today.
