What research direction does family education belong to?

At the kind invitation of Ms. Ying Guang, deputy director of the Research and Guidance Center of New Oriental Family Education, I was fortunate to attend the "Fifth New Oriental Family Education Summit Forum" held at Crowne Plaza Beijing New Yunnan on 201210. The forum not only gathered high-end people, experts and scholars who were concerned about or engaged in the theoretical research and social practice of family education, but also attracted more than 1000 educators and people from all walks of life from all over the country to participate. Its large scale, high specification, deep resource mobilization and serious discussion are rare in various domestic summit forums.

The theme of this forum is "Practice and Innovation of Family Education".

9: 10, the forum opens. First of all, boys and girls read Liang Qichao's On young chinese: "Today's responsibility lies not with others, but with my youth. The wisdom of teenagers is the wisdom of the country, and the wealth of teenagers is the wealth of the country; A strong teenager makes the country strong, and an independent teenager makes the country independent. Juvenile freedom means national freedom, and juvenile progress means national progress; Teenagers are better than Europe, countries are better than Europe, teenagers are better than the earth, and countries are better than the earth. " Chen Xiangdong, CEO of New Oriental Education Technology Group, delivered a speech on behalf of the forum organizers after playing the family education propaganda film and introducing the guests. Chen Xiangdong emphasized the special significance of family happiness, especially the happiness of children among family members, to improve the happiness index of the whole society, and put forward how to increase the positive energy of children's happy growth in the family and how parents and children can understand each other.

Yan Yingjie, director of China Youth Research Center, delivered a speech on behalf of academic support units. Yan Yingjie pointed out that parents and family are of great significance in a person's life development. Parents' regular children are easy to do good deeds, while parents' democratic children are easy to do good deeds. Family is the root of all education. To this end, he put forward four suggestions: to create an atmosphere in which the whole society attaches importance to family education; Strengthen family education research and play a leading role in theory; Strengthen the systematic and standardized training of family education instructors; Promote the integration of family education, school education and social education.

After the opening ceremony, the forum focused on three special reports.

Zhu Yongxin, member of the Standing Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice president of China Education Association, gave a keynote speech entitled "Education begins with family". First, the family is the most prone to educational mistakes. One's life experiences four places: uterus, family, classroom and workplace. As long as a person is alive, only family is the place where lifelong learning or lifelong education can never be separated. Because the secret of human childhood has not been discovered by adult society so far, there are many mistakes in current education, especially family education. Early childhood education, which is mainly undertaken by families, is more than just preparing for children's future development. This stage of life itself is of great significance, and it is the formation process of real people, and family is the cradle of real people's birth. The importance of family education is far from being recognized by people, so that the road of family education is full of incidents of driving without a license, and the contradiction between family education implementers makes children at a loss, which shows that in the overall pattern of education, families are the most prone to make mistakes. Second, parents are the most likely teachers to make mistakes. In the development and growth of a person's life, the educational influence of parents is far more important than that of teachers. The hand that pushes the cradle is the hand that pushes the earth. Parents are natural teachers, but they are also the most prone to make mistakes. A fundamental mistake is that, on the one hand, educating children is the responsibility of school teachers, not their own; on the other hand, they influence children with wrong educational concepts, such as the tendency of expecting children to succeed, valuing wisdom over morality, doting and coddling, being too strict and even violent in discipline, and making children study hard instead of studying, all of which have caused mental damage to their healthy growth. Don't expect your child to be a top scholar or a top student. Let your child be himself. Educate children first and enjoy the process of education. Sow the seeds of kindness and wisdom in children's lives. No matter whether your academic performance is top or not, your child will be an excellent child, and there must be a warm and harmonious family behind every excellent child. Third, reading is the most easily overlooked thing in education. Since education begins at home, the most important reading in education should also begin at home. The reading history of a nation is the spiritual development history of this nation. As far as people's spiritual development and spiritual growth are concerned, reading is the most beautiful thing, that is, the interest and ability to love reading. Parents should give their children the best things in life and the best childhood. To do this, parents and children must learn to read * * * *, in order to influence their children's personality growth with their positive progress and make families tend to be happy and harmonious in the process of reading * * * with their children.

Wu Bofan, editor-in-chief of 2 1 Century Business Review, gave a keynote speech entitled "Learning Family-Dilemma and Breakage of Family Education". Twenty-five years ago, Wu Bo was a graduate student with different majors in the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Chatting well at school, I haven't seen her since graduation. I am naturally excited to see her this time. I was distracted by this excitement, but I forgot the advice I had said before, that I should listen attentively and try my best to record it, so that his specific ideas were not clear, but some of Bovango's views also triggered some feelings for me. For example, the idea of "learning family" is inspired by Peter Shengji's learning organization with the same hobby, which coincides with my original intention of promoting the cultural consulting service of "talking about family and building learning family" to some extent. In my opinion, when The Analects of Confucius entered the family, China culture took root in the family. It is a practical and effective way to build a learning family and lifelong learning personality for parents and children to read the Analects of Confucius together and constantly understand Confucius' life learning spirit of "learning without skill and making life go well". For another example, Bo Fange compares the most important thing a person should learn in family education to the basic operating system of a computer, while what he will learn in school and society in the future is only application software. No matter how bad the operating system is, no matter how good the application software is, it can't run, which is similar to the educational science view that people aged 0-5 will lay a personality foundation for their lifelong development. Saying goodbye to "Sichuan-style education" and advocating "Guangdong-style education" profoundly and vividly shows that the purpose of education is not to increase children's external knowledge and skills, but to develop children's nature and internal potential, so that children can become real people with independent personality and free thinking. This is the inner true spirit of education and the core value pursuit of all real education at home and abroad. Bo Fange also mentioned that children will bear too many parents' expectations because parents are too aware of their children's rights. Under the domination of right consciousness, there can be no real human personality education, and they can only cultivate cowardly and autocratic slave personality. Education is a right, but parents usually exercise transactional rights and compulsory rights in family education, while the most important rights of sex and love are basically not exercised or rarely exercised. Equality of personality between parents and children is not empty talk. Only by trying to dispel parents' awareness of rights in the process of communicating with children can we have equality with our children, and the family can become the cradle of political democracy and the epitome of social friendship and harmony. The whole foundation of education is love, especially family education. Many parents take it for granted that they love their children, but the way of love often leads to conflicts with their children. As a mother said in family education propaganda, "I have done a lot for my children, but they don't feel love." Bo Fange takes O'Henry's novel "The Gift of the Magi" as an example to show that true love will misunderstand, but it will not conflict. What parents say about love is mostly lust, fantasy or utilitarian expectation, rather than sensitive perception of the needs and sufferings of others. It is insensitive not to understand the pain and needs of others. Love also needs the communication and appreciation of the loved ones, otherwise it will also cause misunderstanding between parents and children. For example, when Stephen Chow was a child, she always ate the meat in one bite and took it to the table or even the ground, which made her mother very angry. It was not until decades later that mother and son participated in a TV program together, and Stephen Chow told her that she wanted her mother to eat some meat. So sometimes it is not easy to form a communication scene when you are deeply in love.

(The author's testimony: The reason why education should start from the family is because there is no need to repeat the cliche that "the family is the first classroom in life and the parents are the first teachers". More importantly, it is recognized that family is the place of life and education for people, and parents are the teachers of life and study for people. Zhu Yongxin pointed this out very profoundly, which is of great significance. He mentioned that as a man, he has two opportunities to grow up in his life, one when he becomes a father and the other when he loses his father. It shows that his argument is based on his unique life experience. Zhu Yongxin demonstrated the sufficient reason that education should start from the family, and revealed many misunderstandings and problems in the current family education. In other words, he profoundly and uniquely put forward the research topic of family education. As for how to accomplish this task, it needs the long-term unremitting creative efforts of families, schools and society to be effective. As for the evaluation and comments on the Wu Bofan report, the above account has already accounted for a large proportion. Some people sarcastically said that the innovative ideas contained in the comments on the Wu Bofan report should be our research results. )

Li Xigui, vice president of China Education Association, state inspector and president of beijing no.11 high school, gave a keynote speech entitled "Let children grow up healthily through experience". Li Xigui starts from the point that schools in Taiwan Province Province attach great importance to literature education. Literature focuses on cultivating people's experience and sensibility (Confucius attaches great importance to poetry teaching, which is the reason), especially the feelings and experiences in real life are more important. Zhang Xiaofeng, a female writer, talked about teaching her daughter to distinguish right from left. No matter what she said, it was useless until one day she fell and hurt her left leg. He suddenly said happily, "Mom, now I know how to distinguish right from left." Therefore, education is life education first. When preaching doesn't work, we can create life situations and cultivate children's feeling and experience ability. In social life, we need cooperation ability, negotiation ability and empathy, which belong to the category of emotional intelligence, and it is difficult to change emotional intelligence through preaching. (The so-called emotional intelligence, my understanding is the ability to feel, comprehend and experience specific life situations. ) The drama class in No.11 Middle School is a good example. In drama class, students are required to play a role of their own choice in the drama chosen by the class (if there are many people who choose this role, it will be divided into angles A to N) and become a seated audience. At first, it was a mess. Everyone is self-centered and arrogant, and everyone is like an uncle. But after a semester, we can see them again before the final performance. They are not only organized, but also good at understanding the intentions of their peers and cooperating tacitly. Everyone is like a grandson. This is the effect of experiential education. Experience education in No.11 Middle School is embodied in the following four aspects: 1. From understanding society to experiencing life. Education is not to add some knowledge and skills to children outside life, but to discover and awaken their inner potential, potential and endowment, so as to realize themselves and give them a role in life. All school activities focus on students' current life and serve the improvement of students' actual living ability. The celebration of the school is a student-oriented life and activity learning course, which is student-oriented and guided by principals and teachers. There are many companies, coffee shops, small shops and restaurants in the school, all of which are operated independently by students, with financial management. Just like regular companies in society, the school has also set up two investment and development banks to encourage and help students to start businesses, and the presidents are employed through competition. These are all about cultivating students' survival ability in civil society and belong to our experiential education from self-care to self-care. Second, from pleading to creating situations. It is not enough for education to talk about empty love. Without the mutual respect and care of principals, teachers and students on the basis of equality of personality, we will not cultivate citizens with independent personality and free thoughts in modern society, but meek people who passively obey and lack the courage and ability to create. When a student reporter interviewed the headmaster, Li Xigui told them that as a headmaster, he should not only talk about and care about small things, but also do them in a down-to-earth manner. From now on, he will be responsible for picking up garbage in a certain area of the school, and the students will consciously follow suit. The environmental sanitation department of the school is responsible. The school's water-splashing festival has narrowed the emotional distance between principals, teachers and students, and made teachers and students truly feel like equal friends. The next day, when the students met the teacher and the headmaster, they felt no awe, but more intimate. It is not difficult for the principal and teacher to respect the students, but the students respect the shelf you hold. Only by putting down your airs and being truly equal to them in actual communication will students have heartfelt love and love for you. Third, from collectivism to team spirit. Around the educational goal, students have undergone profound curriculum changes, and all courses are divided into three categories: hierarchical courses (mathematics, science and chemistry courses, each of which is divided into five levels, and students can choose different levels according to their own level and hobbies), classified courses (liberal arts courses such as literature, history and foreign languages are divided into several categories for students to choose independently) and comprehensive courses (music, art and drama courses). In this way, no two students are in the same course, each has a course, the original administrative course is cancelled, the teacher retires from the police force, and his administrative power is gone, which poses a new challenge to the teacher's teaching. Persuasion doesn't work. Only by persuading students through communication can we achieve our goal. Students no longer passively belong to a class group, but participate in different learning teams, thus cultivating students' independent civic awareness. Fourth, I feel the legitimate friendship of the opposite sex from the mystery of the opposite sex. The relationship between students of the opposite sex is a problem that must be treated positively in school education. If the school can't create a decent and normal communication platform for boys and girls, the communication between the opposite sex will go underground, and once it goes underground, it will definitely be abnormal and may cause psychological harm to children. The normal communication platform for boys and girls in the eleventh school is drama class. Through the role-playing drama class, the mystery between the opposite sex is eliminated, and the communication is natural and decent. Finally, Li Xigui quipped that every corrupt official has the problem of keeping mistresses and lovers. If they offer drama classes in middle schools, why not?

(Author's comments: When Li Xigui was in Shandong, he was an educator-type educational administrative leader that I respected very much. From the Chinese laboratory in Gaomi No.1 Middle School to the experiential education in No.11 Middle School, it seems to me that his inner spiritual pursuit is in the same strain. Education is not a rigid, mechanical and lifeless teaching of book knowledge, but a personal unique life perception and experience based on or focusing on the actual life process. In this sense, reading is not only an indispensable aspect of learning, living, doing things, acting and playing games, but also an aspect of learning and education. In fact, this is related to Confucius' four major religions, namely, literature, conduct, loyalty and faith. It is said that President Li studies very well, and he also vigorously guides teachers and students to study independently. My understanding of reading is that we should not only read new books often with the development of the times, but also have at least one book that can be read repeatedly and used for life. We should not only read the latest foreign or western ideological and theoretical works on education, philosophy and culture, but also connect these foreign ideological and cultural factors with China culture through a lifelong understanding of a traditional classic, so as to better take root in the soil of China culture, take root in the depths of personal cultural life, and grow the tree of China culture. In my opinion, The Analects of Confucius is a traditional classic that China people, especially educators in China, should master, understand and experience for life. The cultural action of "never leaving the Analects of Confucius and living in a spiritual dialogue with Confucius" is the hope and future of China culture and China education, and the only way for China people to form an innovative national spiritual and cultural cohesive structure on the premise of ensuring their independence and spiritual freedom. Learning the same Chinese and reading the same Analects of Confucius should be the most striking cultural symbol for China people to be China people. Because of this, I expect The Analects of Confucius to be widely used in schools in China. In addition, I heard that some participants were full of praise for President Li's speech, and some participants thought that President Li's speech did not involve family education, which seemed to be off topic with the meeting. I prefer to think that families need experiential education more. His experiential school education can provide a lot of inspiration and reference for the experiential education of family education, which is enough. )

The last time in the morning was a family education dialogue with Yang Lan, presided over by Song. Yang Lan's wit and humor created a good atmosphere for the forum, and provided many profound and unique family education inspirations for people with his own personal experience.

The afternoon activities are divided into three parallel forums: home-school cooperation, spiritual companionship and professional guidance. The author was too busy to attend the forum in the first sub-venue. Among several speakers and dialogue guests, Yue Xiaodong, Ph.D. in Psychology of Harvard University and associate professor of City University of Hong Kong, gave a speech entitled "Psychological Crisis Intervention and Psychological Care for Teenagers", which deserves attention. His speech is very professional, and the author is deeply impressed by the statement that psychological counselors should be "confident but not narcissistic, modest but not cowardly, tenacious but not paranoid, excellent but not showing off".

Generally speaking, the forum is very successful, significant and far-reaching. Among the people, only New Oriental has the ability to mobilize resources and has made great contributions to education in China. But I still feel very sorry that the forum has been held for five times, and none of them put Confucius, the ancestor of China education, in its proper position. This is not only a question that students should respect their teachers, but more importantly, in Confucius' cultural life, there are inexhaustible spiritual and cultural resources of China's educational innovation and China's cultural innovation in China's first classic The Analects. If you read the Analects of Confucius alive and thoroughly, you will find living water as the source of life in the education of China and China. Unfortunately, people who pay attention to China culture and China education are far from realizing this. As far as family education is concerned, Confucius can definitely be said to be the originator of family education in China, and China is also the nation that pays the most attention to family and family relations in the world. As a family educator in China, this cultural heritage is precious.
