The Society undertakes the important task of uniting and organizing building science and technology workers, promoting the popularization and popularization of science and technology, and promoting the combination of science and technology with urban construction and economic development. With the strong support of Shanghai Municipal Government and China Architectural Society, the Society keeps close contact with all architectural design, construction, scientific research, education units and professional technical designers in the city. At present, the Society has four professional committees 14 and a science popularization working committee 1 4, including planning architecture, structure, electric power, heating and ventilation, water supply and drainage, electric power, building economy, construction, indoor and outdoor environmental design, green building materials and energy conservation, historical building protection, village and town construction, intelligence and information, and ecological construction.
The Society organizes all kinds of academic exchanges and seminars all the year round, and professional committees hold technical seminars on new technologies, new materials, new equipment and new processes according to their respective professional characteristics. The Society promises to receive colleagues from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, foreign construction industries and brother provinces and cities to come to Shanghai for academic discussions and exchange activities. In 2005, the Shanghai Institute of Architecture and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects jointly held a seminar on the renovation of old areas and the protection of old buildings in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and gave academic lectures and on-site observation in Shanghai and Hong Kong respectively, which achieved great success.
