About Tzu Chi University in Taiwan Province

Our founder

Our founder is Master Yan Zheng, the president of Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation, and a consortium legal person.

With the great wish of compassion and happiness, the mage began to help the poor and created the cause of helping others in Dongtai Bay Province.

Based on the principle of honesty and trustworthiness, the mage has done all the money donated by the public for the benefit of all beings. "Buddhism is the principle, and Tzu Chi is the thing", which shows the principle through things, is inspired by things, and returns to the principle. Over the years, that great religious sentiment has inspired countless people; From the rich, scholars and experts to the general public, they all do their best to protect Tzu Chi. The mage thinks: "the rich beings should be inspired and the poor beings should be freed." Equality makes no difference. 」

The master understood the concept of "mercy for the world" from Buddhism and put his experience into practice. The Taoist world and the real society are the Dojo of the Tzu Chi world. All the undertakings of Tzu Chi are respected by all sentient beings equally and as a whole. After 38 years of unremitting efforts and cultivation, Tzu Chi has made great strides from charity, medical care, education, culture, international disaster relief and bone marrow donor to environmental protection and community volunteers, creating a "Tzu Chi World" with a global miracle of love.

Internationalization of charity

"Go ahead and do last" has always been the attitude of Master Yan Zheng towards all kinds of aid work. From the initial rescue, we have been caring until the people suffering from the disaster can stand on their own feet. For long-term life care, emergency rescue, large-scale disaster relief and home care, Tzu Chi is based in Taiwan Province Province, but its footprint has spread all over five continents. The figure of blue sky and white clouds shuttles around the people in need, giving the most timely warmth.

Medical popularization

Hualien Tzu Chi Medical Center

Master Yan Zheng discovered from his experience of helping the poor that "disease is the root of pain and poverty". In order to completely solve the disease, he built Tzu Chi Hospital in Hualien, and then prepared Tzu Chi Dalin Hospital, Yuli Branch, Guanshan Branch, Xindian Hospital and Tanzi Hospital to form a dense medical network in the province, caring for people's lives and health. Tzu Chi People's Medical Association, as a medical support organization, provides regular and fixed-point free clinics and health check-ups for rural areas without medical care in deep mountains and remote islands of the province, and extends its caring tentacles to urban vagrants, urban aborigines, nursing homes and so on. And cooperate with overseas disaster relief, extend medical love to countries that lack medical care and medicine, implement universal free clinic services including surgery, and thoroughly implement "great love without borders"

A complete education

At first, Tzu Chi education started with medical care as the axis, and Tzu Chi education was complete. From kindergarten, primary school, middle school, technical school and university, Tzu Chi has always adhered to the "people-oriented" educational concept, from preschool education to higher education, so that students can grow up under the education of love. This is Tzu Chi's complete education and perfect education.

Cultural deepening

With the deep cultivation of culture, the clean flow of Tzu Chi has spread all over the world. At present, there are Tzu Chi cultural centers and classic magazines, and Tzu Chi monthly, English quarterly, Japanese monthly and classic magazines are published. Tzu Chi Culture Publishing House and Jingsi Culture Company publish all kinds of Tzu Chi books, tapes, videos, audio-visual discs; There are also Tzu Chi World Broadcasting, Da Ai TV, the full-text database of Tzu Chi news clippings, and Jingsi Hall, which often hold various lectures, tea parties and social welfare activities. Tzu Chi's cultural work is devoted to the cause of "purifying people's hearts and making society peaceful", hoping that there will be no disaster in the world and world peace.

International disaster relief

Since 199 1 rescued the floods in Bangladesh and kicked off the international disaster relief, countries have been assisted all over the world. In 2003, Tzu Chi was certified by a UN NGO, and its international humanitarian assistance reached another milestone. Tzu Chi has provided emergency assistance such as food, clothing, seeds and medicines to the affected countries, and also helped to build houses and schools, develop water sources and provide free clinics.

Bone marrow donation

1993, in order to strive for the survival of patients with hematological diseases, people were encouraged to join the ranks of donating bone marrow under the appeal of Master Yan Zheng and the running of Tzu Chi volunteers. In just ten years, the bone marrow donor database of more than 250,000 people in China has been established, the third largest in the world. At present, Tzu Chi Bone Marrow Stem Cell Center has an immune gene laboratory, a cord blood bank, clinical medicine and research teams.

environmental protection

1990, in a speech, Master Yan Zheng mentioned "clap your hands for environmental protection". Since then, Tzu Chi volunteers have carried out the environmental protection concept of "garbage sorting, recycling and cherishing resources" and donated the money from garbage recycling to a charity fund. At present, the second Sunday of each month is Tzu Chi's provincial environmental protection day, and collection points are set up in various township communities in the province. More than 30,000 volunteers in the province have devoted themselves to environmental protection.

Community volunteers

1996 after the disaster in Hebo, people felt cold and alienated. In order to arouse the close relationship of "caring for relatives and neighbors and helping each other" in the past, the appeal of "community volunteers" was put forward, and the members of the Committee were reorganized with the community as the center, and the people in the community were encouraged to care about the land, contact their neighbors, invest in street sweeping, adopt parks, regulate streams, recycle resources and take care of the elderly, and so on. At the same time, set up a "community care and rescue system" to grasp community resources in time to deal with emergencies.

In short, at present, Tzu Chi volunteers are all funded by the private sector, and Tzu Chi volunteers from all walks of life are executors of various social service projects. The use of donations has been best supervised and won the trust and support of the public at home and abroad. In the spirit of respecting life and affirming human nature, Tzu Chi Foundation transcends political, racial, religious and regional factors and does its best. Increase the hope of life for the suffering people.

The origin of school institutions

Hualien, commonly known as "the back mountain". 38 years ago, the traffic conditions here were underdeveloped, the social and economic status was very backward, and there was also a lack of a well-equipped hospital. Therefore, in order to see a doctor, patients often have to cross mountains and seek medical treatment in western metropolises. Between several exchanges, it not only consumes money, but also consumes time and physical strength. Inconvenient traffic delays make life swing between breaths. Of all the sufferings in life, "illness" is the worst, and "poverty" often begins with "illness".

Master Yan Zheng realized this fact, so after a long-term running and the collection of love from all walks of life, he finally established Tzu Chi Hospital in 1986, and practiced the ideals of "respecting life" and "protecting life".

With a well-equipped general hospital, Master Yan Zheng further realized the fact that "famous doctors are easy to get, but good doctors are hard to find". Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate good doctors who are caring and willing to sacrifice, inspire their conscience and let them give full play to their talents. So he started with "education" and set out to set up "Tzu Chi Medical College". Tzu Chi Medical College, founded in Hualien, was finally established in 1994 with the aim of "improving the medical standards in the East, cultivating excellent medical talents for the society and promoting the well-being of the whole people".

After years of hard work and good school performance, Tzu Chi Medical College was renamed Tzu Chi University in August 2000. At the same time, affiliated middle schools and experimental primary schools are set up to become a complete education university with kindergarten, primary school, middle school, university and doctoral education system. Practiced the concept of "compassion and joy" in running a school, and cultivated the ideas of people-oriented, "great love", "gratitude" and "gratitude".

Educational goal

Master Yan Zhengda said: "Education is the work of purifying people's minds, the hope of society and the force of social stability. Tzu Chi's education has only one deep expectation, that is, students can love themselves, others and be grateful. "

First, life education:

The purpose of school education is to make students understand the truth of being a man, educate students to be consistent inside and outside: externally cultivated and temperamental, guide students to show their inner sincerity in daily life, and show the beauty of human nature. It is expected that students should have cultural literacy and humanistic temperament in addition to rich knowledge.

Second, personality education:

Education should not ignore the beautiful culture of China. Tzu Chi education should integrate the moral ethics of China culture into students' lives, and teach students to be polite and well-educated. We expect educated students to be moral, recognized and trusted.

Third, humanities education:

The essence of Tzu Chi culture is the spirit of China traditional culture, and it is also the people-oriented spirit. Tzu Chi people's culture is Tzu Chi humanity, which refers to the spirit of contentment, understanding, tolerance and gratitude. I hope every student knows how to love and respect himself.

Fourth, the education of love:

Tzu Chi teachers, with love and wisdom, guide students to have a correct outlook on life, hoping that students can understand "love" and "gratitude", understand their mission, do their part and know how to give to others.
