Living habits
Turtles live in the upper layer of subtropical coastal waters and live in the ocean all their lives. Most turtles live in shallow coastal waters. Some species of sea turtles live in food-rich waters in winter and migrate long distances during spawning season. Turtles are actually good swimmers. Their long forelimbs are like paddles, which makes them very suitable for life in water. ?
Turtles have the habit of migrating. When the sea water temperature drops, turtles will migrate to the water with higher water temperature to resist the cold. But sometimes the peak surface comes too fast, the water temperature drops quickly, and the turtle's body temperature, physiological activity and buoyancy control cannot be adjusted in a short time, so it will freeze to death.
Sometimes these turtles will stay in the mud for a long time, and their metabolic rate will also decrease, acting like hibernation. This is one of the few examples of hibernation found in marine life. ?
