What is the Asian Development Bank? How many member countries are there?

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a regional international financial organization in Asia and the Pacific. Established in June 196 1 1, and headquartered in Manila, Philippines. At present, the ADB has 67 members, including China, of which more than 40 members are from the Asia-Pacific region, and more than a dozen members are from Europe and North America. The purpose of ADB loans is to provide loans and technical assistance to member countries, help coordinate their policies in economy, trade and development, and cooperate with the United Nations and its specialized agencies to promote economic growth and development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Many decisions on ADB loans are decided by voting, and each member country determines its voting rights according to the amount of subscribed share capital. China, as a member of ADB in this region, joined with 1986, and the subscribed share capital of ADB ranked third. ADB loans are basically divided into four categories: ordinary capital loans (hard loans); Asian Development Fund loan (soft loan); Technical assistance fund (i.e. providing technical assistance grants); Others (i.e. Japan Special Fund and Co-financing).
