What are wings?

Wing, two buildings in front of the main building. Siheyuan is the floorboard of the traditional houses of the Han nationality, which is surrounded by the main room and the east and west wing rooms, forming a plane layout. Siheyuan is a typical Han folk house with the longest history and the widest distribution in China. Sitting facing south, the north is the main room, the south is the south wing, the house in the east is called the east wing, and the house in the west is called the west wing. From this door, you can get to the yard, and there is a mountain corridor in the south house. In this way, several courtyards have been formed, which are connected from east to west and from north to south. In the past, most of the people who could live in the big quadrangle were relatives of the emperor or officials with equivalent status. After liberation, some of these courtyards became the residence of leaders, and some were office buildings or dormitories of units. Chinese quadrangles generally have five or seven main rooms with wooden partitions or floors, and some main rooms and wing rooms have porches. The five rooms are three main rooms and two wing rooms, and the wing rooms are only open. Seven rooms, between the main room and the wing, there are two suites communicating with the main room. There are three wings, east and west, and there is an aisle between the wings leading to the backyard. There is a courtyard wall on the south side of the east-west wing, which divides the courtyard into an inner courtyard and an outer courtyard. There is a moon gate in the middle of the courtyard wall, and a shadow wall stands behind it. In the outer court, everything has one or two deer tops. The house at the top of the deer is a little smaller than the wing. Is it for kitchen or for servants? In the pattern of south room and seven rooms, one room in the east is a doorway, the other room in the west is a concierge, and the door opens on the west wall of the doorway. Make a garage or a side door in the west. Most quadrangles are ordinary officials or intellectuals and businessmen with certain financial resources 2. After liberation, most residents in Beijing lived in such houses and gradually became a complex. Small quadrangles have a simple layout, usually three rooms in the north, divided into one bright and two dark or two bright and one dark. There are two rooms in the east wing and three rooms in the south wing, all of which are tile houses with brick roofs and ridges, the gatehouse with clear water ridges and two doors facing the street, each with a small iron ring knocking at the door. There are also some small quadrangles with chessboard centers, or gray stalks. It is very suitable for families of two or three generations to live in a small single-family courtyard. After liberation, some small quadrangles continued the pattern of single-family houses, and most of them became small mixed houses where three or four people lived.
