Basic information of Xiamen seawall

In the early days of the People's Republic of China, it was very inconvenient to rely on barges for road traffic between the island and the mainland. Therefore, connecting Ludao with the mainland has always been the wish of the whole city, the people of the whole province and overseas Chinese. Finally, Gaoji seawall and Jixing seawall were built in 1955 and 1956 respectively, making Xiamen a peninsula, yingtan-Xiamen railway and Fujian section of National Highway 324 (Fuzhou, via Putian and Quanzhou to Xiamen, etc. ) became attached to Xiamen and made great contributions to Xiamen's national defense and economy. Before 1990, the seawall was the only channel for Xiamen to communicate with the outside world.

Among them, Gaoji seawall connects Gao Qi and Jimei Street in Xiamen Island, with a total length of 2212m and a width of 29m. It was completed in the autumn of 1955. Jixing seawall connects Jimei Street and xing lin cun of Xingbin Street, with a total length of 2,820m, ending at 1956. Because the total length of the two seawalls is 5032 meters, it is also called Shililong seawall.

With the commissioning of Xinglin Bridge Railway Bridge, Xiamen Haitang Railway Line was officially retired and reformed, which improved Xiamen's marine environment and water quality.
