1929, gangs in Chicago often fought with each other for their own interests and private liquor transactions. Two musicians, Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon), were accidentally hunted down because they witnessed the robber Spock's men shooting and killing the informer in the garage.
There happened to be a female band that needed talents like them, so they joined in disguise and came to Miami to avoid being hunted. There is a beautiful girl in the group named Xiujia (played by Marilyn Monroe).
Joe knew that she wanted a rich husband, so he seized this weakness and called himself the son of the oil magnate, and succeeded in winning her heart. On the other hand, Jerry also has a soft spot for Xiujia. However, a very rich old man didn't know that Jerry was a man, so he pestered him, and Jerry had to continue lying to make a living.
Soon, the gang came to Miami for a meeting and found them. They had to keep running. Finally, they fled to the old rich man's house with Xiuka, which led to a series of funny scenes.
