Nantong Normal School is the first normal school in China. Nantong Teachers College originated from 1902 China's first independent normal school-Tongzhou CoCo Lee Teachers College, which was founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist, educator and outstanding patriot in modern times. Historically, Nantong Women's Normal School and Haimen Normal School founded by 1906 have merged.
