(Editor's Note) The song "Reading Lang" excavated by Mr. Song Yang in Anshun is a local children's song sung by almost all students in Anshun during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. Mr Song Yang only remembers the first two lyrics. According to the old Anshun people, the memoirs of Xixiu, who is nearly eighty years old, record:
"... the familiar children's song" Reading Lang "is adapted from Anshun local folk songs. After the adaptation of Reading Lang, the lyrics are more in line with the times and the arrangement is more professional. But I'm afraid not many people know the original ecological version of Reading Lang before adaptation.
When I was a child, my mother saw us naughty and taught us to sing children's songs. The lyrics read:
Ma Xiao rode Jiro into school.
Mr. Wang thinks I'm young and makes a fuss about it.
Three-character classics are short in space and read one line a day.
After reading the peach blossom, I saw the willow grow.
If you don't study hard, you will have no face to meet your parents.
Naer, knock and choke! Naer, knock and choke! (Learn to play suona and drum)
This is the original ecological version of Reading Lang. Mother taught us to sing this song in order to teach us to study hard and not to study casually like Kojiro. It can be seen from the lyrics that the sense of the times in the Republic of China is very strong. ……"
