The school, formerly known as Chung Yuan Christian University, was founded in 1948 by the Central Central Plains Bureau with Deng Xiaoping as the first secretary and Chen Yi as the second secretary as the director of the preparatory committee. 1953 In the national adjustment of colleges and universities, based on the School of Finance and Economics and the School of Political Science and Law of Chung Yuan Christian University, the departments of finance and economics and political science and law of several universities in six central and southern provinces were brought together to establish Zhongnan College of Finance and Economics and Zhongnan College of Political Science and Law respectively. The school has four national key disciplines (finance, accounting, finance, civil and commercial law), 1 national key cultivation discipline (history of economic thought), 3 1 provincial key disciplines, 1 key research bases of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and 4 provincial and ministerial key research bases of humanities and social sciences.
