What are the types of transportation agents in international cargo transportation?

(1) A chartering agent refers to a person who takes a ship as the object of commercial activities and engages in ship leasing business. His main business is to find suitable transport vessels for charterers or cargo objects for shipowners in the market, and to make charterers and shipowners reach lease transactions as intermediaries to earn commissions from them. Therefore, according to the different identities of customers they represent, they can be divided into chartering agents and shipowners' agents.

(2) Shipping agent refers to the person entrusted by the carrier to handle all business related to the ship, mainly including the entry and exit of the ship, freight transportation, supply and other services. There are mainly voyage agents and long-term agents.

(3) Freight forwarder refers to the person entrusted by the owner to handle customs declaration, handover, warehousing and other business on behalf of the owner, mainly including booking agent, cargo handling agent and cargo declaration agent.

(4) Consulting agent refers to a person who specializes in consulting work, provides international trade, transportation, data and information services according to the needs of clients, and collects certain remuneration.
