Does Jiangbei belong to the south or the north?
Historically, there are two opinions on the geographical dividing line between north and south in China: 1, with Qinling and Huaihe River as the dividing line between north and south. This is because the Huaihe River is the southernmost river in China that freezes in winter. 2. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, many scholars advocated taking the Yangtze River as the dividing line between north and south. These two statements have their own basis. The former focuses on natural geographical features, while the latter focuses on human geographical factors. No matter which method is used to divide the north and south, there are provinces and cities that cross the border. Anhui, for example, is partly north of the Huaihe River and partly south of it. Hubei is mostly in the north of the Yangtze River, and part of it is in the south. According to the first demarcation method, Beijing, Tianjin, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Hebei, Gansu, Ningxia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Qinghai, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang belong to the north; Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Tibet, Taiwan Province, Hong Kong and Macao belong to the south.
